Is art created after 1980's a by product of commercialization?

Would you go as far to say that between 1880-1980 (more or less the range of these dates) art was at it's highest in: depth and sought after painters? Or is this partially because everything in that time period was new and ground breaking?

Actually art has gotten better. The only thing that has changed is that there is no longer such a thing as a famous artist.
