I mean, I don't know or can't think of one single thing that I think about which works every single time.

I can usually still my mind whenever I want to, and what helps most of the time is music, but not every time, always...

Anyway, when I try to still my mind, I don't usually focus on one thing, I don't think about one thing is what I mean.

I use simple breath meditations to still my mind. Sometimes I might also envision someplace peaceful and serene, but I really think simply focussing on the sensation of your breath as it enters and leaves you is the best and quickest way to still your mind and find peace.
