@Hooflungpoo @LovedOne That part of the song always made me feel warm and fuzzy... I think it's because he singing about being so close to someone. The disease could be love. One could definitely argue that love is a disease because of how absolutely miserable it could possibly make one, and in a sense... slowly kill them. Okay, maybe that's a stretch, but I still feel warm and fuzzy toward that line. ;)

I have no clue what the song is about, but "hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease" always creeps me out a little. Love the song.

So, as you a lot of people know, John is saying "shoot me" in there pretty clearly. I've always thought the "Come together... over me," was another weird, murder prohecy thing, of which there are a few. As in coming together over his body or coffin, etc. Strange, but he did have some fucked up martyr issues going on, "They're gonna crucify me...". I've always wondered how much John's martyr lyrics influenced Chapman. It's horrible to think that his paranoia of martyrdom may have played a part in it's actualization. Very sad.

john was commissioned to write a song for some dude's political campaign. it was not used ultimately, and John eventually morphed it into all this craziness. that would seem to have almost nothing to do with most of the lyrics, but it's why he chose the phrase "come together."

Its mysterious & amazing how music has messages that are personal to each and every one of us. Even though 'Come Together' has somewhat strange lyrics, i think most people feel the song speaks of unity,..at least that's what i get from it. It is one of those songs that you always remember because in a way it sets a positive tone.

@philbee I'm glad you did some research. I've read all of those things too. Did you decide if you believe whether or not the song is about the 4 beetles, or that it's another part of the "John's Dead" theory, or did you come up with something of your own? :) Oh, and you should refresh your memory on this song with an actual clip, this one is totally worth it. ;)
