That is not necessarily true for everyone. But I have read that in psychotherapy- learning to feel grateful is a milestone in maturation. Isnt there anybody else here who gets up in the morning and gets a cup of coffee, sips the fine flavor and thinks "By God- am I lucky! I love my home! I love my dog! I love the peace of the morning. I love (fill in blank)" I have noticed that pathological narcissists are never grateful. Anybody else ever notice that? I have given birthday presents to them and the whole kind gesture is just ignored. My best friend here died of leukemia last December. We all knew it was coming because the doctors told her she had the worst kind. I knew I would miss her, and I do.

People, I think, sometimes get very engrossed with now-- relationships, events, needs, preparations, wants, friends, materials-- that Life falls out of focus as a one-time use.

This is one of the reasons that upon wakening every morning, I think of all of the things I am grateful for. It is a great way to start the day, and it places positive intention for the rest of the day. Repeat the mantra "Life is good".
