Man, I've learned so many (I'm lucky!) Here's a good one: When someone is talking, don't formulate a response WHILE they're talking. Really listen to what they're saying. If you have to pause after they talk to think and respond, it's ok. Listening is important!

I learned that if someone who claims they love you wants you to change everything you value about yourself, that person does not deserve you. And I learned that after 5 years in a relationship that failed horribly. But hey...at least I was able to buy him out of his sharew of the condo we bought together!

When I learned that I am not the center of the universe. That was my first epiphany. I found that life is much happier when you are giving.

I lost a friend when I was on the verge of sixteen. After that, there hasn't been thing I've hesitated to do for my friends and our circle of friendship is so tight that I'm positive we'll be friends forever. It's sad that I had to learn the value of having such good friends through losing one, but I guess that's how life works sometimes.

One of the greatest lessons I've ever learned was a simple piece of advice that my dad gave me years ago. I don't even remember what we were talking about, I just remember this one sentence. "Treat every woman you meet like she will be your future wife, because you never know." So wise.

I learned to stop defining myself by my accomplishments (this was after I dropped out of college). I still have things on my "to do" list, but my happiness is not contingent on its completion. It took me about six years of depression and low self-image to figure it out. Now, I'm a happy, cocky SOB :)
