I think that everyone definitely has they're own opinion of what 'good music' is. Whats good to me, might not be good to others. And whats good to others normally isn't good to me. I personally love Metal Music. Anything with a mean guitar and some harsh vocals catches my attention. I also love Metal that involves singing. A good example would be the Swedish band Opeth. I love melodic music, and I also involve music that includes Classical instruments. I like interesting themes, and I can't stand R&B and Top 40. There's no passion in it. But we're all different, and we all like different things!

Anything polyrhythmic with meaningful lyrics. Not songs of compromise, every once in awhile it's okay to hear about heartache, but I don't see how anyone can just constantly listen to drowny sad music... I prefer Ska, Indie, Folk, Rock. One fabricated single voice broadcasted from sea to sea will most likely kill me. ;)

I enjoy any music that is weird or different. I'll go to used CD stores and buy albums with the weirdest cover art I can find. Most of the time, the bands with weird cover art play really cool music!

Mainstream music today is BS. Theses Disney music stars disgust me. Personally I think the only good music being made today is indie. But i do like older music Queen, Ray Charles, Buddy Guy, etc.

And as for the Jonas Brothers and other main stream stuff, it just doesn't have the depth that I like. Too simple, to repetitive, too generic, doesn't generate enough of an emotional response.
