Change the course of your inner dialog. Shut yourself up, tell yourself to lighten up, tell yourself, "I'm not listening! Lalalalala!" Humor can help. But don't stop your medicines and/or therapy. This thing must be attacked on multiple levels.

Depression can be a symptom of a lot of things. It doesnt have to be a "diagnosis" in itself. Especially if it goes hand in hand with anxiety attacks. I would get a more in-depth assessment of my personality structure, because that can lead to different methods of treatment.

I've had experience with this, and medication does not address the root cause of the problem, so solves nothing. If psychiatry really knew what it was talking about, depression would have been eradicated a long time ago instead of ever-increasing. Understand that what you think creates how you feel, absolutely not the other way around. Notice what you are thinking, and notice how whatever you are thinking makes you feel. Then realize that you have the choice and the ability to change what you are thinking in any moment, and change, change, change your thoughts. If you have trouble doing that on your own at first, seek out reading material, whatever attracts you, so you can find something to change your thoughts to that feels better than whatever you are presently thinking. It takes a lot of mental focus and self-awareness and persistence to get this going, but after a time it will be a habit and won't require as much effort. You could notice a difference as soon as today. Best wishes.

Day by day, moment by moment. Exercise can help. Medication can help. If you are a spiritual person prayer can help. I found great help in reading the psalms. I also found it helpful to try to find just one good thing in every day. This helped to remind me there was a reason to keep going, and not everything was as bleak and grey as I sometimes felt. Depressed people tend to isolate themselves, but this is the time when you MOST need to be around people who love you. Don't feel ashamed of being depressed, and don't feel ashamed of admitting your depression and asking your friends to help you.

For me its about taking it day by day. Although when you wake up you just don't want to get out of bed, you just have too. And during my moments I find talking to someone you don't know to well helps a lot. They have a way with helping ou without you having to tell them you're feeling depressed. And if that doesn't work, throwing yourself into an activity like hand sewing something you really have to concentrate on well help.

I believe strongly that once someone puts their mind to something they can do anything they want. Human biengs make their own choices. So, we basically choose to be depressed. We allow "bad things" to get us down and we stay there. We hit rock bottom and start digging. Optimism seems to be labeled as "uncool" in our modern society. Bieng suicidal and depressed and sad/mad all the time seems to be the way to be accepted. But, by breaking away from the limits we set ourselves, or that we let others set for us, we gain the ability to comprehend our will power and control. Thus, allowing us to be hapy. :)

I'm probably slightly biased science I have my bachelors degree in Exercise Science, but physical activity is one of the best treatments for depression. Being physically active for 30-60 minutes per day greatly decreases the symptoms of depression by re-adjusting levels of neurotransmitters in the brain. If I'm stressed out, anxious, or depressed a nice 30 minute jog helps greatly. Be physically active by doing something you enjoy like hiking, frisbee, walking the dog, or even badminton. Hope this helps!

What comes to mind is to understand why you often get depressed. What do you think about that affects your feelings? Can you endeavour to to deliberately concentrate on what makes you happy thus changes your feelings? I believe working on our thought process is key to curing depression. How do you cope? you cope by talking to experts and also you might want to consider meditation and I will also advise you read books on the subject and lastly I'll recommend A NEW EARTH by Eckhart Tolle. I strongly believe you will be fine.
