I dont think the soul can grow, but why wouldn't it be able to level up? Experience can only make the soul wiser.

I don't think souls grow. I think what happens is that with spiritual work we clean out some of the ego so that we can properly get in tune with the soul- which is unchanging.

I feel that our souls do not grow, they are the omnipresence in every human that are essentially pre-programmed with all of the spirit, wisdom and love in the universe. The way we live our lives allow us to discover more and more of our own souls.

This question makes me think about a man on the Oprah show who had survived a horrific plane crash or something. He watched the other passenger's souls leave their bodies as they died. Some were very dark, like shadows. Others were bright white, glowing as they floated upwards. He said that what he learned from that was that he wanted to live his life so that his soul would be a glowing bright white light when he died. I do think souls develop based on mindfulness and one's actions in this world.

Of course, take an embryo for example... even though it exists within the mother's womb it does not know about the world it will soon enter into. And in this womb this being can still develop and grow what it will need to thrive in the next world. As humans we must nourish our bodies by drinking water and eating healthy and exercising or we will be able to have our bodies function in a healthy fashion. Our souls are embryos in this matrix awaiting for the next. But we can nourish our souls by prayer and by aquiring and implementing the attributes God have provided for us.

Oh yes. the way I nourish my soul is through love for others and myself. There is nothing sadder than a withered, lost soul

I would say that the soul grows in a spiritual way, not physically. Our souls grow when we nourish them with spiritual scripture and prayers. I would say that in this world everything is dependent upon egress or regress, either you grow or shrivel but you cannot stay the same. But like our bodies, our souls need exercise or else it will become sick and shrivel. This exercise can be an act of kindness, or it can be forgiving someone who hurt you, or trying to become humble, etc. As to "soulless" people, I would rather say that they are rather spiritually sick just like a body is sick when it gets no food nor exercise. The difference is, though, that the soul is immortal and does not die. Whenever religious scripture talk about spiritual death it is meant that the soul has no spiritual perfection, no heavenly attribute, no godly virtues and is like a useless tree that bears no fruit and is only useful for burning. This state of the soul is so horrible that it is like death. Whereas spiritual life is meant by reaching perfections and drawing closer to our Creator. The more we grow spiritually the closer we reach God. That's how I see Heaven and hell - one is nearness to God and the other is remoteness from Him.

I am a big fan photomojo's response. A soul remains constant, the use of that soul is what changes. The more you use it, you may feel as it is growing, however it is really you growing into your soul. In the case of James Brown, on the other hand, His Soul grew...and made him tons of money.

I think that your soul is like a vast house. It has the same square footage all through your life, but there are rooms, cupboards, shelves, etc. that have yet to be discovered. Once you discover those places, you feel like your house has grown and given you more space, when it really hasn't changed size. I think your soul is like that. Once you discover new ways of life, new love, new compassion, new convictions...you feel like your soul has grown. Although, it is still the same size...you just never knew your soul contained that shelf.

Few people mentioning energy - in a Newtonion sense. In my view, doesn't really apply - I mean the Soul is not physical, physics doesn't apply. Newton's laws don't even really apply to quantum physics which is actually physical never mind spiritual things. Just believe that we have to let go of any worldly conceptions if we're going to get closer to not understanding the soul a little less (never going to really understand it at all in my view).
