Eugene O'Neill (Reds): "If you were mine, I wouldn't share you with anybody or anything. It'd be just you and me. You'd be at the center of it all. It'd feel a lot more like love than being left alone with your work."

"It's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst ... And then I remember ... to relax, and not try to hold on to it. And then it flows through me like rain. And I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. Don't worry ... you will someday." --Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey), American Beauty

Hmm... I love that big block of lines near the beginning of V for Vendetta. It makes me laugh. "Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vissscesstudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant and vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these vile and virulent vermin vangaurding vice and vauchshafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengence, a vendetta, held as a votive and not in vain. For the voracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vicious swath of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me 'V'." Yeah, quite the line. I love it. It means nothing of any great importance, but it makes me laugh.

"We're on a mission from God."- The Blues Brothers, 1980 I think this quote is an accurate description of what everyone does, regardless of religion or age, gender, race or nationality. Everyone is on their own mission from their own God.

Too many to choose from but if I had to start with one it would be from Double Indemnity (1944, Billy Wilder): Walter Neff: You'll be here too? Phyllis Dietrichson: I guess so, I usually am. Walter Neff: Same chair, same perfume, same anklet? Phyllis Dietrichson: I wonder if I know what you mean. Walter Neff: I wonder if you wonder. It's great because these two characters have the most delicious dialogue throughout the movie--they flirt, they make passes at each other, but its all under the surface. In this exchange Phyllis pretends to not realize that Walter is hitting on her and he calls her bluff.

When Harry met Sally. My favorite part is when she is trying to prove that she has had great sex with some gut names Sheldon. When Harry answers no you did not have great sex with Sheldon. If you need a root canal Sheldon can do it. Your taxes-Sheldon is your man but hummping and pumping isn't for a Sheldon. Because of the name? Here are three of the many gems from Little Miss Sunshine (love this film!!!): Dwayne: [on notepad] Welcome to hell. Frank: Thanks Dwayne. Coming from you that means a lot. Richard: Sarcasm is losers trying to bring winners down to their level. Frank: [sarcastically] Wow, Richard, you've really opened my eyes to what a loser I am. How much do I owe you for those pearls of wisdom? Grandpa: Dwayne, that's your name, right? Dwayne? Listen to me, this is the voice of experience talking--are you listening? Honorable Mentions: "Luke, I am your father." -Star Wars "I see dead people."- Sixth Sense (both classics that pop up in day to day conversation)

"What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force -- is tending the light at the end of the tunnel." -Dr. Gonzo, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Almost every line in the movie is quotable--this is my favorite. It sums up the reasons that the Hippie movement failed, and illustrates the spiritually-bankrupt excesses that defined the '70's.
