Is there a difference between a wise person and a smart one?

To understand what you have been taught is to be smart, To understand others is to be wise, but to understand one's self is to be illumined.

A smart person knows, but a wise person knows when to use it

Education is supposed to lead to wisdom, but it doesn't always. Being smart is just what you had to begin with.

Yes. Although, I would say most people who are very smart are wise and vice versa.
