I smoked it a little bit as a teen, but it didn't really have much affect on me. Now I'm a Baha'i, so I don't engage in any recreational drug use, including alcohol. However, I think legalizing drugs would help our society in the long run. I think the evils of drug lords and gangs far outweigh any negative impact drugs have on one's health. The war on drugs has been a miserable failure, and a waste of our resources and efforts. I think we should start by legalizing marijuana, and see how that goes before legalizing the hard stuff. From personal experience with a family member, I can say hard drugs ARE damaging to relationships and one's mental and physical health. Marijuana just makes you kind of stupid, not unlike alcohol.

No. It should be legal. funny thing though, I dont want my kids getting high as teens. But truth be told I'd probably rather they smoke pot than drink alcohol... If they were grown I dont suppose I would mind, but I would never smoke it with them. That would just be too weird.

I don't smoke, but have before. I personally HATE the way it makes me feel, it's not for everyone. That said, I am completely for legalized Marijuana.

Why should people have to choose narcotics over something natural? Look at what narcotic pain killers and alcohol do to people everyday. No one has ever died from Marijuana. Tax it. Legalize it.

Oh and the only downside to marijuana that i've ever seen is that it makes people content to do nothing with their lives. While they could be working or learning something new it makes them content to be bored and eat snack cakes all day everyday... but considering the vast number of Americans that are unemployed I think that if the government can't find a way to improve the unemployment rate then the least they could do would be legalize.

I don't smoke, it's not my thing, but even still I'm all for medical marijuana or regulating it and taxing it for recreational use.

I've never smoked it firsthand, because mainly my mother is from the hippie days, and she knows what marijuana smells like, so I'll have to wait til I move out, haha.

I have been in a car with people who are high, and they just drive a bit slower, nothing really effected. I've also been in a car with a drunk person, and that was actually kind of fun because we were on a country road, but if we had been on interstate it would've been hell.
It should be legalized, taxed, and regulated, that way minors cannot smoke it and the economy would probably bounce back in about four days.

It should be decriminalized but the government should have no hand in growth and distribution. I know, that's a stretch but hey, I can dream.

but the half of my mind that wants to keep it illegal is the super hippie side that doesn't want the government controlling and distributing my pot.

I don't think any drugs should be made illegal. It is up to you what you want to do to your body and having drugs illegal means that that freedom is taken away from you by laws and the people who are not regulated and put sh*t into the drugs that people take. If you are stupid enough to do something dangerous that will kill you, or if you just can't moderate yourself, then go ahead. But some things actually do give meaningful experiences and getting wasted is part of growing up for most people, governments should be making it safer through regulation rather than more dangerous by consigning it to the shadows of criminality.

I also smoked on a daily basis, for years, and I do believe it has some long term effects. It all depends on the kind of lifestyle you want to lead. I was a teacher and it just didn't mix well. I did lose a lot of motivation, but that could have been a personal problem of mine. I know people that still smoke daily and are very competent and intelligent.

I stopped because I started to get anxiety attacks, but that was because it was a bad time in my life. I wanted to quit so I did. I have NOTHING against people who still do, I actually think they are some of the most interesting people I know. It's just not for me anymore.
To answer your question, I think it should be legal, but regulated to some degree.

I smoked it daily and support it, so I'm not really answering your question. Anyway, if for no other reason, marijuana should be legal in order to take power away from the Mexican drug cartels. Currently, the DEA claims that Mexican drug lords earn about 60 percent of their income from marijuana sales to the US. And since 2007, there have been well over 17,000 deaths and counting in the Mexican "war on drugs".

Nope. Weed should be legal for sure. But it being illegal doesn't affect my ability to obtain it, so meh. The only negative experiences I've had is feeling paranoid and/or anxious. But that goes away pretty quickly.

I've smoked in the past. I support legalization with special provisions.

Don't dope up at work, while driving, and especially when in any situation where someone has to have a conversation with you. Treat it like smoking where second-hander's are protected. Treat it like drinking when it comes to operating most anything. In other words... keep it at home or in designated bong pits.
But holy sh*t... if they made bong-a-dome's like skate parks, we'd be having a really different conversation right now.
