2012? I really hope so!!!! 'Cause I just refinanced my 6 bedroom McMansion, bought a Hummer for 0$/down and maxed out my credit cards, plus I bought little "Buffy" a pony! So I'm screwed and could use a little Mayan Universe "Bailout Plan" I kid of course, no Hummer, I got the Escalade :) For real, I've heard the stories and really don't trip on it too much. I try to focus on the "now", that's all any of us have.... Gotta say though, the Mayans and other ancient civilizations accomplished so much. Their secret?, no cable TV (with 853 channels of mostly cannon-fodder) They'd all sit on the front stone porch and talk, engage, dream, create... Soulpancake style...

This idea that the world will end in 2012 is based on an INCORRECT calculation of the true Mayan calendar. The true calendar ends October 28th 2011 and not in death and destruction. The 2012 end date is based on a made up calendar (know as the Dreamspell calendar or 13 moon calendar). This calendar is NOT the real Mayan calendar but the majority of the information you can find online or in books states this false information.

@regmor12 I looked up Mark 8:38. It says, "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." How does this predict Baha'u'llah's coming? I also looked up Ezekiel 43:1-7. It says, "Then the man brought me to the gate facing east, and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory. The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when he came to destroy the city and like the visions I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown. The glory of the LORD entered the temple through the gate facing east. Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. While the man was standing beside me, I heard someone speaking to me from inside the temple. He said: 'Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet. This is where I will live among the Israelites forever. The house of Israel will never again defile my holy name--neither they nor their kings--by their prostitution and the lifeless idols of their kings at their high places." Again, how does this mention the coming of a man named Baha'u'llah? "Missing the truth by anyone will turn out to be only one persons problem. It won't be God's problem or anyone elses." That's true. Galatians 6:1-5 says, "Dear brothers and sisters, if another Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other's troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone in need, you are only fooling yourself. You are really a nobody. Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct."

I think that has some relevance to it. Especially since all of Nostradamus' teachings have come true. But I think the real question is: what do we do now? Are we scared? Threatened? Excited? And how are these feelings going to fuel the way we look at our future and how it will end?

I say we start making a whole new Mayan calander. For all we know they already had it made and it acciedently got destroyed. But seriously I grow up with parents who loved talking about the end of the world and why and when it was coming (Fundamental Christians). What a drag to live there. We have problems! But really? Shouldn't we enjoy the day and do the best we can with the life that has been given to us?

A coming apocalypse is always relevant. It's relevant to some of us all of the time and all of us some of the time. Why it's relevant is beyond me, but I'd have to guess that boredom and religious dogma are at the top of the list. Regardless...I have to think that our seemingly hardwired obsession with "doomsday" doesn't have to be filled with all that much doom. I've recently revisited the subject of "the last of days" and found that the Bible doesn't talk about the world ending, but that God will bring in a NEW earth and a NEW heaven, where everything is set aright, and death, disease, and decay will be forever gone. The notion of the world being destroyed (at least from a faith perspective), isn't Biblical. The New Testament clearly points to an eternity that takes place on this very terra firma, albeit a supernaturally fresh redux of the one we're so familiar with. That said, a scientific perspective shows that we ARE destroying the earth with our choices. And a moral obligation to care for all of creation is upon us today, regardless of what happens (or doesn't for that matter) somewhere in the future.

And no, the world isn't going to end. Thats ridiculous. No one with any real serious science back ground would back an idea like that.

I'd rather it be a surprise so I don't dread the future and regret every passing day And also so people won't desperately and hopelessly try to prevent it from happening. I don't know, but it seems like the worst kind of way to go. Imagine those last few moments realizing that everything you've done has been useless up to that point...not worth worrying about. Live for the day, week, month, year, life

I dont think it will, now 2050 we have a problem. With the amount of old people, the amount of children and all of our food and water supply diminishing...I think we may have a problem. Oh and the fact of the huge floating plastic piece in the pacific ocean.

ohhhh, I sure hope not!!! I would have just finished college and then no more world. but I think the world will change a lot very soon. it kind of stresses me out. this swine flu business could be only the first of it. I don't like to think long term, that is beyond the next five years or so, because I feel like conditions on Earth could change so drastically. plus there are already millions of people living in Hellish conditions today.

I am pretty sure the Mayans thought it was the end of an era and was actually good luck to live during the transition and new beginning. Stuffyoushouldknow had a pretty good podcast on it a couple weeks ago. http://is.gd/uBVK" target="_blank">http://is.gd/uBVK

No. The electro-magnetic poles will shift. And consciousness will shift. The Mayans called this, Imix. And what that meant was a shifting from masculine to feminine. There is nothing to worry about. Things will happen but it won't be the end. It is simply the end of this age, going into the next. Time is speeding up, we are at zero point and nobody quite knows what happens beyond zero point. But I am certain that all the talk of the end of it all is media BS. Don't believe the hype! Nothing to worry about, just be a good person, if that's your thing and you'll be just fine. The Universe always conspires in your favor!!!

I'm not really all too inclined to take the Mayans word for it, much less our personal interpretation of what we think the Mayans were saying. I'm not saying the world won't end on that year, or even that day' but it seems rather unlikely to me. Either way if it comes there is nothing I can do about it. so no reason to worry.

Maybe this world ending is a GOOD thing. I have lots of ideas-a possible metamorphosis into a better world. A world where who you are is more important that what you have.A world where people take what they need and give back what is unnecessary. A world where everyone has enough. We have over-stressed the planet, I can feel it. I hope it's not too late. As the late great George Carlin said, "The planet will survive, it's people who are f_ _ _ed". Watch the You Tube video he did called "Save the Planet". Hilarious. At least you can laugh about the end of the world.
