Welcome indeed! I guess I throw in my own little schpeal as well :) The coolest part about this site for me is the huge amount of perspective you can gain.. As said there are many mindsets on this site and they will give you their honest opinion which is pretty bomb. My advice is just to be respectful and you probably will have tons of friends (or followers) quite quickly. Enjoy! (^_^)

Welcome to the site that will consume every waking moment (and many sleeping ones) from here on out! I guess I would recommend commenting on threads that interest you and maybe asking a question every once in a while (don't ask five in a row, though; some people get annoyed). It's perfectly fine to disagree with people and even contest their points (or agree with them) using the @reply feature, just as long as you remain polite and try to legitimately consider what they are saying. Most people who disagree with you will do the same. If I have a really good conversation with someone or if I like their ideas or if they follow me, I will follow them. Lots of people do it differently; just figure out what works for you. Of course, as in any accepting community, there are a few bad apples, but don't let them get to you. If someone says something especially offensive, flag (using the button shaped like a flag) and ignore; they're just trying to get a reaction from you. On the whole, though, this is a very loving and intellectually diverse community. Enjoy, and thanks for joining the cult!

The way you make "friends" here is by "following" them. Once you do, all their activity will show up in your homebase at: http://www.soulpancake.com/homebase/friend_activity . You can follow someone by clicking on their name or photo around the site to visit their profile. There, you will see a "Start following" button.
Once they follow you back, you are two-way friends. This means that you can automatically share your submissions to the Question Collective with them and they will get notified by email to come in and join the discussion.
Another great way to find friends is by connecting your Facebook and SoulPancake accounts at: http://www.soulpancake.com/settings/facebook_connect . You can then import and automatically follow any Facebook friends who have also connected to SoulPancake.
Hope you all enjoy!

I'm thinking it might be to join something. Church comes to mind. it seems people that go to church have more friends.
I could be wrong.

To answer the question I have been on here a little less than a year and haven't found a way to do that.

I'm getting married on November 20, 2010, so I am always on Etsy looking for things. LOVE Etsy....I need to make that into a t-shirt. To answer your question: I have no idea.
