Are highschool love affairs worth the time and effort?

Or should those maturing highschoolers scoff the idea of a serious relationship until they are more secure with who they are as an individual?

I think high school is a major part of a persons sexual awakenings, just use rubbers.

thanks everyone, what i got from this was that an intimate relationship, just like any other, has its potential heartache, but also its lessons and fun so if it feels right go for it!:) just be safe:D

I don't know.. I met my boyfriend in high school when we were both juniors and we had our four year anniversary in April. I don't know what the definition of serious is, but I know we both want this to last.

I think it all depends on the individual. If you can handle a "serious" relationship, you can. If you can't handle it, the experience makes you a better person.

Absolutely.
The intensity of what you may experience as love at that age, is so powerful...so amazing.
My only advice is .. don't be a weak little idiot ...insist on birth-control .. always!

i think part of discovering who you are, is going through and experiencing differant relationships with friends, famil, teachers, and significant others. Most HS relationships don't make it the long haul because a lot of the time people grow and change after HS. However, I do have quite a few friends who ended up marrying their HS sweethearts. You never know what life is going to hand you, so its hard to say what is a waste of time.

Don't generalize so much. My parents met in high school and got married right after graduation and they'll be together forever, if for no other reason than because neither of them knows how to (or wants to) live an adult life in the real world without the other.

yes, it builds who you are today...you learn from it. Be stupid and have fun because when your older you won't have anymore fun :P
