I've considered video games art since the Commodore 64. While I generally respect Roger Ebert, on this issue he'll just have to f*ck right off.

Yes, i believe that videagames are art because in my opinion art consists of something being created. Videogames are a creation therefore it can be art. Videogames are another medium used to express creativity. Art also has a lot to do about evoking emotion, which videogames do as well. But its all about opinion..

It's just another medium. Even if there are no games available now that can be considered art ( I don't know; I'm not a gamer), it does not rule out the possibility for someone to make an artistic game in the future.

I think video games can be considered art, because a person, or group of people, designed it. They created the story line, the character, everything. Literature is considered art, and a video game is really just a story that someone made for others to play and create/use that story within the limits of the game.

I don't think the question of "What constitutes art?' can ever be answered. It's all just personal opinion and what is aesthetically pleasing to that particular person. Theres no characteristics or particular artists or media that MAKE art, it just is and people can enjoy it however they want.

ART: the products of human creativity; works of art collectively
