Without a doubt. There are a few things in this nation that I am happy to pay taxes for. Health for all, Education for all, Protection for all, Infrastructure (roads, power, water). I'm sure there are more. But if you don't have health, you don't have anything. This is probably #1 for me.

Something needs to change. I don't think it's what's in this current iteration, though. I'm only familiar with what's been publicly discussed, but without a public options, what's the point? That is a huge let down to me. People stay in sh*t jobs and relationships to have a hope of coverage. A lot of people think they have good coverage until something happens. People think their insurance companies have their wellbeing in mind. People think healthcare providers opt in and out of insurance participation at will... There's so much misinformation, politics, and marketing around it, and THATis a problem. When healthcare stopped being a campaign for wellness and became a business, it went south.

Sterofidelict, Thanks,! For the Heads Up! I really didn't know, a lot of times you can be nieve to whats going on, I try to stay current, but there are so many lies being told and by the very people who look you right in the face, you don't know who to believe, and who to trust, it is bigger than Black and White, see truth has no color..

I don't like the idea of immigrants getting health care, people who only stay for certain benefits. It is similar to a crabby restaurant owner who doesn't want a bad word said about their business. When I was younger, I lived off of the Husky plan, it was free at the time because you had to be under a certain age bracket, and price bracket. Now I cannot even afford to go to the chiropractor every other day to get treatment... not to mention I need an MRI. I cannot afford it because hell; I cannot even afford the crappy insurance.

It feels very unfair to people whom are in pain, and are not allowed to get relief simply because their insurance does not cover it.
And such nations like Canada? They have excellent doctors, and they are encouraged through more pay if they can get their patients to stop smoking, drinking, other bad habits, etc. Obviously what we are doing right now is not working for us, whether if universal healthcare is the answer, or not; something needs to change, and fast.

I frankly don't care. Until they overhaul the insurance companies it makes no difference. States already pay through the nose for people that dont' have it. It will still be out of reach for many..AND a lot of people will get supplimental policies anyway. Until the costs are addressed, there's little hope of much change, imo

It will be a wake up call for sure when people realize that panacea of great coverage they think they are getting will be all but an illusion. You get what you pay for in this world. Yes health care will be free, and the free care you receive will be just that, what you'd expect underneath free care.

Yes, I am for it. All the fear rhetoric is ridiculous. Pass it now and tweak it later. Congress loves messing with the rights we already have.

I would say go for it.

I would say go for it.
Anything that helps remove the nagging worry of "What will I do if my health fails?" has to be worth it.
I've wondered why Americans have chosen to have this pervasive worry hanging over their heads for SO long.

Simply for the fact that I don't trust health insurance companies, I would welcome universal health care if it came.

beloved, i have just face the worst time in my life concerning my health.... i did not have enough money to save my life with western medical care.. even if i sold my home it would not have been enough. and i would have been houseless. would not do that to myself or my children. dying was easier to do for everyone, including myself. so i went to herbs, and eastern medical care, i am to say it is not for everyone, but it was for me... it looks like i m going to live.. which at this point i am it is ok either way.... i lost my life joy in all of this. how it is more important to do bomb, oil, war, than taking care of the people... i have said my peace dear ones, no more on this subject for me... the voice will be heard at 7 pm tonight. and the kind of medical care i got that saved me will not even be covered,,, for what i did healed me without killing me...

The government's job is to work for us. The insurance companies job is to pad their own pockets.

I used to live in Canada so I benefited from their system. I know they have an excellent program going in Hawaii, I just don't understand why the continental US can't utilize that same program, it's been working for 40 years right so what's the hold up? I guess I don't know the draw backs of it but everyone seems very much to like it and not complain soooo....yeah I think it should be a no brain-er. Universal health care just makes sense. But there needs to be caps on medical procedures and equipment prices without out compromising quality....these are just obvious things for me.

I am starting to think that because of this, that there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor. You are either just surviving, or living extra comfortably.
