you can try to do good all the time but eventually if the result isn't something that makes you happy you're going to burn out. there needs to be equal emphasis on both.

Definitely doing good. It more or less makes me feel good but even if I feel like complete sh*t, I'll still do good things for the benefit of others and in the hopes of maybe improving my feelings.

Doing good makes you feel good. I don't concentrate on either - they are both habits.

I am constantly immersed in how I feel, so I'd like to feel good. I have a subconscious focus on feeling good, with a conscious intent to do good.

i like to do what i think is right. a lot of times doing what is right means doing what feels good, other times the right thing is to do good. Why not have your cake and eat it too?

I've heard this before & I don't know it's true, but I'd like to believe it is:
Acts of kindness raise all the feel-good chemicals in the brains of not just the recipient & the doer, but also all observers of the action.
I really like that :-)

BTW, my Dad lives in Auburn. I've been there to visit several times and have enjoyed the city and the people every time. Nice place to call home!

It's also important to note how difficult it is to do good if you don't feel good. The idea of needing to help yourself before you help someone else is a risky one, but it's one to think about all the same. I, for one, know that I can't do much to help the people I love if I don't feel good about myself. But at the same time, it really does feel good to do good. It's definitely a circle, of sorts.

I think it depends on the day. When I'm in a healthier, happier mental state, I try to do more good. The other days, well, I do a little good for "you" and the rest is all for me. My justification is that I'm no good to anyone if I'm no good to myself.
