I think it's about as conscious as a teenager getting a woody over a centerfold. And neither is anything to be concerned about.

I find it funny that we are still talking about this in 2010. I mean what person in their right mind would make a conscious choice to be part of a group that is still met with bigotry and hate by a large portion of the world. I am straight I have always been and always will be, this was not a choice that I made it is just the way that I was born and what my brain finds attractive. I have had many gay friends and not one of them has said that it was a decision that they made to be gay. I think people know very early in life what direction they are going to go and the only reason that some hide who they really are is that society has made them feel uncomfortable in their own skin.

In prison, evidently it is. And some people do choose one or the other, and change their minds (see various celebs). But for the most part, I doubt it's a conscious choice from what I know/read.

Their have been some breakthroughs in recent studies disclosing that there is possibly a defiecency in the very early stages of pregnancy, a hormone or nutrient, that effects the development of the sexual idenity portion of the brain.

*Side note* I personally see NO defiecency in homosexuality it has been apart of society since the dawn of time, and I feel that love is love.

-no, sexual orientation is not a choice
-why would anybody choose to be part of a group that is continuously discriminated against?
-"lifestyle" does not mean "orientation"; it means simply in what style do you live. Flambyant? Confident? Privately? Openly? whatever IS a choice.
-"sexual preference" simply means which sex act and/or partners do you prefer; has nothing to do with orientation
Pay attention now...
-heterosexuals and homosexuals can, and do, have sex with one another from time to time; afterward no body is magically changed, ever. Orientation remains the same. Sometimes some people like to add variety to their lives, in everything. No, not everybody; some people do.
-homosexuals do not recruit, but they might seek each other out; if you think that gay people are looking at you that way, they probably aren't. Gaydar is a real thing. And homosexuals do not get a toaster oven for recruiting; it's not like selling girl scout cookies.. (Damn! and I need a toaster oven--and some Samoas would taste great)
In closing: Men are pigs &tere4; homosexuality is not a choice.
Any questions?

I think it might be for some homosexuals. But I believe that most are genetically inclined that way. Either way, it's fine with me.

1. I have no idea nor do I believe anyone can accurately make a guess.
2. I am guessing 80% are.... wait, I just read #1.

There are some people who choose (because they are bisexual) and some who are just plain gay. And some people who just experiment. And everything in between.
