What do you actually do all day at work?

I don't know about the rest of you...but my job is pretty much complete in about 1/8th of a workday. I spend a tremendous amount of time on sites just like this, personal reading, studying for classes that will educate me how to get out of stupid jobs like this...and so on.

I manage a self-storage facility, so I accept payments, rent units, occasionally auction units - and spend a great deal of time on my laptop, either doing research or trying to stay up-to-date on SP.

Look at parts of the body nobody else sees (or really wants to) then in-between cases, hop on twitter or soul pancake or facebook.

Wow! I also teach, but I have 5 hours of 7th and 8th graders who bounce, jam, jabber, jostle, and consume my day. The other 2 hours a day I spend getting ready for the next thing, cleaning up after the last thing, and dealing with the present thing. I sort of think the closer you are to the final product, whatever it may be, (students, patients, garbage, food, etc. ) the more actual hours you spend doing real "work". I hope @matthugh , you aren't on my tax dime. ;)

i'm on soul pancake some of the time. during longer breaks, i read or watch tv on my laptop. (on fridays i have a two hour break in teaching and i'm allowed to leave the school if i want and sometimes i go run errands during that time)

my job is super super easy. and i'm so lucky i am paid salary...the same regardless of how many hours i'm there or how many hours i teach. (this is what makes me so hesitant to leave korea. haha)

I work part-time at a made to order dining hall on my campus. It's hell. I spend most of the time wishing I wasn't there. I'm either slaving over deep fryers or listening to customers b*tch and moan that we work too slow (darling, there are 15 more orders before yours. We aren't magical). I really have no right to complain. I'm lucky to have the job. Part time jobs in a small college town are very hard to find.

Most days and I love it when I stay busy all day. I really enjoy my job and the day goes fast when I am busy.Some days it is fun to check out my e-mail or a few sites.

Well, I am a substitute teacher and it depends on the day.

If I am substituting in older grades -- I am usually listening to wise cracks made by 13 year-olds who think they are HILARIOUS and too cool to be there. I spend my day convincing group after group of children to do the work that their teacher left them. This is both frustrating and entertaining.

I also am fortunate enough to get those bright-eyed students who know I am young and fresh out of college, and seize the opportunity to sit and talk with me (when they finish their work, of course). They ask me questions about what life after high school is like... what college I went to, where my friends went to college, what I want to be when "I grow up.." and it's fun to sit and ask them the same questions. They ask me what it was like when I was in middle school, etc. (I am a sub in the schools that I went to.) It's fun to sit and chat with people when there is a significant age gap -- I learn a lot.

If I am substituting in the younger grades, usually 1-6, they are usually well-behaved and I teach them the day's worth of lessons that the teacher leaves for me as best as I can. The kids always give me something to laugh and/or smile about. I love going to work. :)
