@rasputnik the screen, the desk, cluttered, the twisty lightbulb, the chair with a pajama shirt, the window at seven am with birds cheeping, the microwave (i'm in a kitchen) on a structure that WAS my bookcase. the bratwurst in the fridge,

I am happy in my little cave, because it has connectivity and ithings in it that make me happy. I think, under the circumstances, it is well decorated(if you consider looking like a room belonging to your lesbian grandmother well decorated). Before I had to move my cave, it was painted "Georgian Leather" which like any other "official" color has no relation to real life; it is a tan with quite of bit of orange in it. On the blond wood danish style bookcase bed that my mother bought in the early 50s, there is a maroon bedspread with a subdued old rose print with coordinating curtains over the single window. I like the idea of mixing red and orange, since life should have a little bit of friction I think.

No stacks of folded laundry - just stacks and stacks of unfiled papers. Which will now be filed - I'm hiring a high school band kid to alphabetize the mess. That way the band gets to go to the 2010 Macy's parade and I get my obituaries filed. Beyond the paper are four stacks of books, 2-foot high each - my reading list. At my feet, a disgruntled Bird the cat, who wants to be up here, helping me type. A stack of empty cigarette cartons to be broken down for recycle...a pile of empty boxes I didn't need for Christmas presents, likewise...a huge box in which I am gradually accumulating historic items to use as prizes in a program I'm beginning to think isn't going to fly...BIG bag of catfood for the strays...two bookscases with books, unopened packages of papers, a dead printer, 2 cameras, two boxes of scrapbooking junk that hasn't been picked up yet...two Starbucks coffee cups (Christmas present), one Hugo History Day coffee cup (won it last June) that haven't made it to the kitchen cupboard...two books I've finished and need to put labels in before they are shelved...four videos...and a partridge in a pear tree.

I refuse to turn around and look at the other half of the room, thank you!

considering taking any walkable job since
i 'll be selling my car. i could claim noble causes such as the environment etc... but it's sheerly
bc i can't afford it anymore.
i am in a stalemate with existence.
maybe even checkmated
yet i am not sad. nor scared.
the room i reside in is dark except for the flickering tv light.
maybe i'll light a candle

My room is lit by the dim, sole lamp of my room, resting on my teal dresser. My cozy twin bed with its snowflake, flannel sheets supports my body and my arm rests on a pillow, hand against my head. Upon my bed is a pepper-gray cat, Baby, sound asleep at my feet. A bright purple business book sits unopened, a sure sign of procrastination. Window blinds are shut so nobody can see me. I am at peace as I listen to Marina and the Diamonds.

The technology bursts and gives the room an air of static. Television is on, showing large people learning how to work out to a screaming harpie. Hubby on his lap top, I on mine. Baby Bear in the other room Googling "The Great Gatsby". Wild Tibetan beast at my feet waiting for a bone. Lights blazing, furnace on. People leaving a giant carbon footprint while they relax.

Snoring dogs, stacks of folded laundry, dog hair clinging in the corners, piles of papers to deal with. All petty cuz a student of mine just died. At this moment, there is no light to refract.
