We are all examples of consciousness expressing itself through form... the forms evolve, grow, change, and develope into our potentials of what they could be... our purpose is to find what we have passion for and allow consciousness to express itself through us... be the silent witness and evolve by bringing more and more clarity to your purpose...

I wonder the same thing. As a Muslim, it has been drilled into me that, according to the Holy Quran, I have been placed on this planet for one main reason: is to worship God. In no way am I trying to insult or go against my religion, but I must point out that, at the same time, the Quran emphasizes that God is self-sustaining and all powerful, thus in no need of worship, and even so, He has completely obedient Angels for that task. Thoughts?

Coincidentally, we had a lecture on the meaning of life in my Philosophy class today. I personally agree with the objective view in that reality exists independent of consciousness. I believe, as human beings, we are all ultimately in search of happiness, be it one's own happiness or rational self-interest. The only social system consistent with this morality is full respect for individual rights. In other words, I am human, you are human - we are all human. I respect you, thus you are inclined to respect me. It makes sense, as human knowledge and values are objective; they are not created by the thoughts one has, but are determined by the nature of reality. Bottom line: live correctly, do good for yourself and those around you and be happy. You can't be punished for that.

I am here because my mum and dad had sex. I think that goes for a lot of us . Others are here because science helped them along a bit I guess but it all comes down to sperm and an egg. As to why well maybe they were feeling especially good that night/day, whenever. Maybe they were not. I don't know.The result was me though that's for sure.Since that time I have grown and had millions of experiences which continue to shape me as a person and I get to witness my own evolution as a human being and to relate to and get to know different people and other life forms on this planet from a deeply personal place. That'll do me for now.

But I have to disagree with jedikelb about the biological drive to propogate. As a species we may have that biological drive, but not all individuals feel that drive.

Our purpose on this planet is to experience the many aspects of life. Some people will bring pain and horror so that some people can rise above it. Your purpose is what ever you want it to be, whatever you make of life that will become your purpose.
