If they really have advanced so much that they can get to us then I'm sure they've also figured out how to live within their resources and won't be needing ours. Although I'm sure they think we are barbarians and they might think it their moral duty to come 'help' us!

The fact being that if "other beings" came to our planet they would be here for a major purpose (be it natural resources, to study the species of our planet and us, or to take over our planet and annihilate us) but if there were being with advanced research I doubt they would come to a planet with obviously less advanced technology, I doubt they would shoot first and worry about the rest later. But who knows really? if they were another species entirely we may not even begin to think the same so there is truly no idea of how it would happen.

I think it depends on all aliens. If they're like us, angry and warlike by nature then hell yeah they're gonna take over. I mean someone mentioned it earlier with the Europeans taking over the primitive Native Americans. Why would you negotiate with someone way weaker then you.

On the other hand they can be more intelligent and non warlike then they'd probably come for educational purposes. To study us.

I assume that beings capable of visiting us would have to be advanced not just technologically, but also spiritually. That is, they would not be war-like, or their civilization probably would not survive and evolve to travel among the stars. They would understand, better than we, the special place of higher-order lifeforms within the cosmos. (Which is probably why, if aliens are here and watching, they won't allow us to annihilate ourselves as a species... To echo what was said in The Lion King, "We are more than what we have become. We must take our place... in the great... circle... of life...")

Well, maybe it will be like the founders of America who came and took over the land, treated the natives like lesser life forms, and imposed their own religions on them.

Or maybe they are so advanced they have no use for spirituality or gods, and have no remorse for killing in the name of new resources.
haha, or maybe they are awesome, cool, look just humans and are already living amongst us....

holy crap, people. it is obvious and clear as crystal that aliens come here to suck water out of our seas and give the US public healthcare.

but seriously, i think the only reasons aliens would come here is to simply confirm there are other lifeforms in the universe. because they sure as crapiola won't learn anything from us. we have nothing to offer lifeforms that can travel that immense distance, our morals would be pointless to even bring up, our religions would be laughed at - if they would even bother to listen to our stories.
they'd be watching us like kids watching an anthill.

I definitely think it could go either way. It would be nice to think that if they are obviously more advanced than us in technology etc in order to be able to come upon Earth before we found wherever they came from, that they would also have more experience in general. Maybe they would have already experienced their global warming issues, using up natural resources/destroying their planet etc and would have advice for us to deter these things from happening.

Or they will be kind of like how humanity here on Earth seems to be and as a collective whole mostly forget about what has happened in the past instead of learning from it and therefore come to Earth to ravage our lands and ruin our way of life....whatever that is.

Probably neither war nor peace. Wouldn't we have to provoke them first? Who knows if they'd even know the concept of peace or war. They'd probably come take our resources and ignore us in the process. But we would do something stupid and cause a war.

Perhaps a flaw in the thinking. Are the most technologically advanced nations here on earth automatically the most spiritually advanced? It seems to me it's the other way around -- almost as if advancement in technology is a distraction from spiritual advancement.
