Quiting isn't always the best desicion, but in some cases, you have too. If you are doing something that, I dont know, is insane maybe, and it comes to a point where you can not physicaly do it, I mean your not going to get any farther, so yeah, I would give up. Now, if you're doing something simple and you just dont want to do it, no, I wouldn't give up. Although it might be hard to keep going, but keep trying!

Cost/benefit ratio. I believe that if you feel like its time to quit, you should quit.

All of these answers have merit and value, I think. When I read it, however, it took me in a slightly different direction. I translated "give up" to "let go" and applied it to those difficult situations where a person hanging on to life fighting impossible odds is given permission to stop fighting. Sort of like pulling the emotional plug.
