To tweak an oft used motivational phrase, there is no 'I' create (but there is in creation).

I write poetry and short stories. What tends to inspire me are the little things in life. I think that the telling someone something isn't always the right way to go about something and sometimes it is really hard to talk about certain topics, but writing is the one way I know how to express my feelings in full. Life would be unbearable if there was no way to express the way I feel/felt. Writing also allows me to inspire friends, family, and even complete strangers. There is always a time where all the pain inside you rises up and either explodes out of you or drops back and is hidden again. I feel like at that moment, I write my best work because all my emotions are right out in the open and somehow I am able to access them more freely. It is kind of hard for some people to understand, but that's the only way I know how to explain it. Sometimes words just fail and you have to put pen to paper to express how you are actually feeling and sometimes even that is adequate. I also don't think that it is "I" who creates. I think that God uses me to talk to people that need guidance. I know some people here are not religious and don't think God exists, but I can't ignore the fact that I didn't know to write the way I write now until this past February. It was something that just appeared out of nowhere. It's hard to explain, but one day I was sitting in class and then I had this feeling of inadequateness, like I wasn't good enough for anyone. That's when I wrote my first real poem. I believe that God sent his spirit into me that day and now he is using me to get his point across. I am not always the best person, but I try my hardest to be the person I know I can be. Creating isn't a one person thing, it is something beyond this world and I think it manifests itself different in each one of us.

I'm in a band. So I usually create in a group setting. Most of the time, our creations thrive from our different influences, and end up much better than any one of us alone could have made it. I wonder, if other forms of art were taken on by groups of people, rather than an individual, how would it change the final outcome. would it be better?would it be worse?

I create poetry, collages, music, sometimes building or welding or fixing something broken...I'm usually inspired by a feeling...pain, joy, etc. or i'm inspired by work I've seen others do that gets my creative juices flowing.
