Yes, I will agree with that. The original question was what is faith? I was trying to adhere to it as much as possible. And give an example. I would say there is more cause to doubt me than there would be a person claiming to talk to god through prayer. LSD F's you up. Prayer is harmless, except for extremists, prayer is brainwashing for extremists. I also don't want to give the impression that I condone LSD use. I've had my fair share of bummers, they aren't fun. In fact they are scary. Most likely you won't find your soul or faith in LSD. More likely you'll find yourself depressed or enlightened for a few days after, and wondering how bad you messed yourself up by taking something so powerful. Furthermore, from a scientific approach. Which I would also call the "safe" approach I would not want to believe too strongly in my souls' eternity. If I did I could reason there is no reason to live in this body anymore. Many LSD users have come to this conclusion after coming down and ended their own life in faith that they would see through their soul for eternity. THIS IS CRAZY. Faith is a razor's edge, on one side is happiness the other extremism.

I think faith is a gift. I don't know if it can be defined in technical terms, but has to be felt. It's, to me, something that I feel everyday, and for me, that is a miracle in itself since I went for years without it. It was only in it's absence that I knew when I actually had it.

I think faith and hope go hand in hand, I truly have faith that one day the world will live in peace, people of all countries will call each other brother and sister, this is something that I hope for and have faith in. I also have faith that this post will be printed on a million Hallmark cards if it hasn't all ready.

Have any of you tripped LSD and looked at the stars for 5 hours? Do that once and then tell me you don't have faith in your soul. My soul exists, and will exist forever. This is not crazy drug rambling either. I'm a 4.0 student, and study religion and faith extensively although not in college curriculum. If you want my definition of faith it would be as follows. Faith, believing something to exist without tangible proof. How do we obtain faith? Well, is there anything you can think of you know to be true, but cannot prove to be true? That's faith. Like how I know my soul exists seperate from my body. There is no way to prove it, but I know it to be true. It was proven to me, but cannot be proven to anyone else. Just as I don't know that anyone else has a soul. I know mine is there. That is faith. Once you know you are eternal, this life becomes beautiful. You have a short time to experience things, quit worrying about everyone else, and go experience. Your soul will be waiting when you're done.

My definition of faith comes from Holocaust survivor and author Elie Weisel... "You must have faith to remain human"
