Are we killing ourselves?

its a simple yet strong question imo but to best explain what im trying to ask is are we breeding "super bugs" got a cold? take some penicillin, head hurts? have some vicodin. basicaly im trying to ask are killing ourselves in two part way 1: we take to many unnecessary drugs cause we always want thing to heal faster and more efficiently so we dont bother letting our bodys heal the little things we face everyday 2: this causes the common virus and the uncommon ones to evolve and become stonger, faster harder to kill splintercell "superbugs"

Probably, the western world is so health conscious spending billions on pills, a lot of the time to prevent something they probably won't ever get - a sort of 'just to be safe' kinda thing. How can that be good for you? Pfizer makes a killing (quite literally) from selling the drugs (priced sometimes at $30 a pill) providing the average paranoid or hypercondriac or fearful citizen the opportunity to over medicate themselves, probably tampering with their mental state to what ever degree. The body is capable of protecting or healing itself as a survival thing, but it seems so easy these days to swallow a pill to make everything better quick and instant. like microwave noodles :)

not only is it a psychological and spritual war we are engaged in. its also a microscopic one ~~~~~ so lets get together and raise the anger in the nation. .

I know (and hope) that I am. Slowly but surely.

And yet, we are living longer and longer lives.

Capitalism! Did you know that there are only two countries in the entire world that allow drug companies to advertise directly to its consumers? The United States and New Zealand. I believe the reason we take all these unnecessary drugs is because the drug companies say it's the right thing to do. Now, your migraine can be healed by a more holistic method than a lab produced drug but where's the benefit to the drug company giants? It makes me wonder if somebody somewhere has the cure to AIDS or cancer but is keeping it under wraps because its more beneficial to the pocket book to create treatments instead of cures. How would we know the difference?

If we don't, mo' nature will. Someone's got to do the dirty work of evolution.... can't just believe all the warm n' fuzzy feel-good bits about science and ignore the rest. We're not (just) the ones killing the planet; the planet is doing its damnedest to kill us. Always has. Always will. Change: brought to you in part by Don Earth's hired goons. I believe so. H1N1? Seriously? EVERYONE.. GET YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN DOWN TO THE CLINIC AND GET A SHOT!!!! NOW!! I take ibuprophen. When absolutely needed. I don't have any chronic diseases, but I stay away from any pain pills. That stuff can't be good for your body.

Yep. Kids who get an ear infection that are given an antibiotic for it without having a fever are 20% more likely to have cronic ear infections that kids who are allowed to fight the infection on their own. I had a sh*t ton of ear infections when I was a kid... I still get them which i've been informed by a doctor is really rare for adults. I'm not going to second guess my mom's judgement regarding the situation because she's been a nurse since before my older brother was born but... I can't help but be jelous of kids who's immune systems have built up a tollerance to ear infections. Makes me wonder if our search for alleviating pain now doesn't just cause more later in some cases. From what i've read the new recourse for kids with cold or common infections like an ear infection is to let them fight it off without antibiotics unless they develope a fever.

Yeah. But not just in that way.
