I don't think I would ever want to worship any ol god for FEAR of hell or GREED of heaven. Besides there is no proof of such places, seems to me that fear and greed have been sold to people to get them to buy $ $ whatever it is we are selling. Even bullshit.

no and... no. If there were then you get into heaven by deahtbed repentance to every faith ever conceived. Actually with the number of faiths out there you should probably start repenting now in order to cover them all before you die. But seriously there is no hell nor heaven.

Usually I'd just say you can achieve salvation through faith in Christ alone. And pretty much everything schmo said. But then I'd probably get criticized for not being open minded. So here's me being open minded. Yes there is a heaven. Yes there is a hell. No heaven is not achievable by ONLY being a good person. No you do not have to do the right works enough time. No you do not have to detonate yourself in a shopping mall harming countless innocent people. and no, accepting a certain religion is not enough.

The Bible teaches that hell was originally a place that was created by God as the existence for angels who rebelled against God under the leadership of Satan (2 Peter 2:4 God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment.). Heaven is God's dwelling. It's important to remember that the Bible speaks in terms we can understand for things that are really outside our experience and comprehension. Hell is the result for those who rebel against God. God made the world as a paradise for human beings to inhabit. When mankind chose to also rebel against God, damnation is the result as well as the world no longer being a perfect paradise. The Bible refers to the state of rebellion as well as the acts that result from it as sin. Sin separates us from God. Isaiah 59:2 says: "Your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." But God doesn't want this separation to continue and so he provided for the removal of sin's barrier. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says: "God made him (referring to Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." Jesus lived sinlessly and died and rose again to be the substitute who takes away the barrier of sin. He makes us righteous or sinless. He was able to do this because he was a true man, born of Mary (and so human like us) and true God as well. The Bible invites us to believe this about God, sin, heaven and hell and Jesus. This is what Christians historically believe. Sorry for the long comment but I heaven and hell are basically biblical concepts and so I thought this was germane to the discussion. Others can believe otherwise but this is what the Bible says.
