it is the mind and nature of people forming a system that would make the difference, not the name or structure of a preset system. No system can remain truely capitalist if people in it wouldnt give a damn sh*t to material. There can be no communism in a system where people fear death to death.if you are fearing your own death to death you would fear even the idea of "scarce resources" and you d fight for them no matter what. People need to understand that they are more than their material selves in order this system to change.capitalism is the best possible outcome with ourselves, thus it is what we have.

remember a book called "The End of History" by Francis Fukuyama? he was convinced that free market capitalism had "won" - as in won all the arguments, proved that it was the only system that could cope with the idiosyncrasy of human society... well - without "socialist" or government rescue acts (active in the US economy since it was established) capitalism would gorge itself to a magnified Lord of the Flies mess. Marxism has fine ideals and comes closer than most to the tribal Utopia I have in mind - but as krillin says - unfortunately these (both) depend on humans being exceptionally responsible... so I accept capitalism as the system we are (currently) stuck with - but the best versions of it are not like the US model. Sweden has got it working in a much more humane and intelligent way...

Capitalism and socialism are economic systems. Communism is a form of government, not economics. China has communist government but a capitalist economy. I think capitalism with federal social programs is the way to go, but that it needs to be coupled with a fair tax so the rich are paying the same percentage as everyone else. And tax the overseas bank accounts too! Michael Moore is more interested in sensationalism than facts. I recommend you seek more knowledge of economics from other sources.

well if you are talking about economic systems you need to look at the particular government. i.e. capitalism in china and the US. i think capitalism isn't that bad. anyone think that maybe we should all just barter like in the old west?

The first truth about systems of government, is that none are tailored to make everyone happy or serve everyone. The second truth about systems of government, is that every functioning government is a hybrid of many systems of government. We are primarily a capitalist country, but it would be naive to say that there aren't socialistic elements in our society and that many of those elements contribute to the success of the country. Hell, even China embraces some capitalistic warmth. Remember when Hong Kong went back to China?

I feel that all should be shared equally with everyone in whatever form - medical, agricultural, housing. I have no idea what type of system would produce that.
