Would you rather love be blind or painful?

I would rather it to be blind. In fact, isn't it already blind? Despite what I'd prefer it really isn't up to me, or anyone else for that matter. Love is what it is and it's better just to accept that.

It's usually both, I believe. We get so eager to fill a void that we will overlook danger signals along the way.

ha ha ha - you forbade my answer. Why on earth would I want love to be blind or painful? I've been married to a wonderful fellow for 30 years. He is mildly irritating sometimes - that's ok. There aren't any deep dark secrets, though we each have a degree of mental-emotional privacy. If, God forbid, there was something bad I didn't know - I'd prefer to know the truth .... but there is nothing that bad that can show up with us. Love is understanding, and we know that this life does not last forever.

I don't see love or blindness as the only two options. I think its possible to love with one's eyes open and not experience pain--or at least no more pain than a person routinely encounters in daily life.
