I used to have a lot of strange mind habits. Such as needing to sit in the first three rows of a bus, when looking out the window I would imagine a thread flying through the air needling between objects. Fortunately I've managed to loose those habits as they were an expression of my constant nervousness. Now I mainly have such bad habits as having to check facebook constantly :P I do like to check up on almost every new thing or word I discover on either wikipedia or websters dictionary but I like those habits :)

This is really embarrassing. But i'm obsessed with counting, specifically my teeth. I have a permanent retainer on my front bottom teeth and it lays on the back of 6 of them. So i count the spaces between my teeth where i can feel it which is 5. then i count where it is attached to the teeth which is 6, then i count in between the teeth starting from the first one that has the retainer on it and ending at the last one which is 7. i go back and forth so it starts going left and ends going left, so its left right left. so yeah i basically count to 18 on my teeth up to like 100 times a day. yeah weird i know.

I have to have everything in alphabetical order. I have to listen to my CDs, watch my books, and read my books in alphabetical order. I also love learning about the Holocaust, which I've always thought was strange.

I draw imaginary lines with my mind from the edges of things out into the room and don't allow myself to step on them. Every time I see someone else push their glasses up, I have to do the same (even if I am wearing my contacts). I love naming things. Plaid. Cleaning my ears.

My obsessions tend to come and go. I was unbelievably obsessed with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" while it was still on the air, with Andy Kaufman when I thought he was still alive, and with daddy/daughter roleplay whenever it happens to come my way. And since I have an anxiety disorder, I've been obsessed with being in control of most aspects of my life, although I'm trying to not let that overwhelm me as much as it has in the past.

I name a lot of inanimate objects. I love my toaster oven. I talk to my car when I wash her, and I have a weird obsession with wallets. I think if I could afford it I would buy almost all of the. Also building things, be it a house, or a sandwich. Creating feels cool.

Concern for and obsession with sleep is a characteristic worry of those who suffer from BPD and over the years I have often written pages of analysis and gathered pages of data on my sleeping patterns, but I will limit my discussion of this subject in my life at this juncture in this post.-Ron --------------------------- I began my obsession with writing during the 1990s. Rather than ponder the value of non-compliance with my medication as I had done in the 1980s, I came to a state of full-compliance; I came to appreciate, to fully accept, my lithium treatment. Anti-psychiatry has had many forms since psychology and psychiatry emerged in the last decades of the 19th century and the early twentieth and since chemotherapy began to have more and more success in the last half century, say, in the years 1959 to 2009, my years of late adolescence to late adulthood. Like many of the mental illness conservatives, they take a far too extreme position in relation to psychiatry from my point of view. --------------------------------- Impulse control disorders are also considered to be part of the obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD) spectrum, a spectrum I can easily identify as part of my life as I gaze retrospectively at my years all the way back to early childhood. OCD is a mental disorder most commonly characterized by intrusive, repetitive thoughts resulting in compulsive behaviours and mental acts that the person feels driven to perform. The word “explosive” was an appropriate one to associate with my anger episodes from the age of 18 until the age of 60, but mild anger or controlled anger was a much more appropriate term for this new register, for this form of emotion after the age of 60. ---------------------------------- I began to write poetry a great deal. One could say I was obsessed; my wife certainly would use that word and I have come to accept that word as a realistic description of my behaviour, especially now that I am retired and now that I devote all of my waking hours when possible to reading and writing, research and independent study.
