I was at work one day, (community non-profit health club) when a young woman entered the building with her son. She needed to renew her membership and sign her son up for a summer soccer camp. Now we probably all have childhood memories when Mom was busy filling out endless paperwork business, and we were along for the ride with no real activity of our own to keep us occupied. This little boy kept tugging on his mother's skirt and saying are you done yet, I'm bored, to which she finally replied, if you are bored that means you are boring! and left him to his own device. He seemed to figure it out. He walked over to the doorway to the weight room and checked out what the other members were involved with, then walked over to the flyers and checked them out as well. Bravo, Mom. I honestly thought at first she was being rather cold and unempathetic, but she seemed to have inspired his curiosity and that solved the problem! As for me, I would have thought ahead and prepared my child with a planned activity, (coloring book, gameboy, etc) but that proves there are more than one way to achieve balance.

paint my entire livingroom grape purple. I bet my family hopes I'm not really bored anytime soon.

Take a nap? The notion that one needs to do something drastic when they're bored seems absurd to me.

In one of the Hitchhiker's Guide books one of the characters becomes so bored he voluntarily goes crazy and spend a week pretending he is a olive in a martini. I could get behind that.

'Science' I'll just leave it at that. Variable isolation is an instant cure for boredom, imo.

When I am bored in school, I sit in class, staring at the clock, and I time how long I can hold my breath. This is popular among some students, and one kid actually almost passed out he held his breath for so long. As for the craziest thing I would do if I were bored... It would probably end up being something really stupid like bungee jumping or sky diving. You know, spice up life a little!
