I was at home with only my 11 year old sister, she was asleep in bed. I was watching a move, and I fell asleep on the sofa in our living room. It seemed like I had only been asleep for one second at the most, when I woke up to the sound of my sister screaming-- not a startled scream, but a bloody murder, being stabbed and tortured scream. I jumped up and that's when I noticed the door open. I ran to our room, not sure of what to do; I probably couldn't defend myself, but I couldn't sit by while someone killed my sister. She suddenly stopped screaming and I burst into the room. She was dead asleep and fine, and when I woke her up she didn't remember anything. She never had night terrors before that, and hasn't since, but I still don't know how the door got to be opened...

I was on vacation visiting a friend in Belize. We had met some other American's at the bar. He wasn't feeling good so he headed back home and I stayed for awhile. Later I was headed home on my own late at night. I got jumped. I've been trained in hand to hand combat and self defense, but there were five guys and my name is not Jason Borne. I landed a couple solid hits but I took a knife to the gut. Luckily it missed any vital organs. I thought I was going to die that night. Without a doubt the scariest thing that has ever happened to me.

My six year old disappeared from my sight in Honolulu airport. I was aware that Hawaii was the place with the most kidnappings in the US (at that time). It only took me about 2 minutes to find him - but that was the longest 2 minutes of my life.
