I'm okay with it most of the time. I told my friend that if she ever had an abortion not to tell me because I wouldn't look at her the same (I'm okay with it being legal but I turn a blind eye to it). But otherwise I would want to know, even if it hurts me.

What people don't tell me isn't a problem (especially if I don't know about). I trust them to tell me what they need to tell me. If they don't tell me something, I don't worry about it. If they tell me something I deem to be false, I investigate the discrepancy. Sometimes we react in ways that make it harder for people to tell the truth all the time, too. Imo, it boils down to what's more important to you, the trust or the truth?

No. It tends to undermine trust of the one being protected, and suggests that the protectors don't trust the protected to take or use whatever they're withholding positively or appropriately. Nice job on your photo; did you use a Mac?

Such lies usually protect the liar from having to deal with your reaction of knowing. It is, at best, patronizing.

No, honesty is very important to me. If someone is dishonest, it says to me that that they don't respect me. I am capable of deciding how to best protect myself.
