some women write pretty good love songs, some pretty macho but still loving (I drove all night for example) - its not the difference between the sexes I am on about as much as why men can't express emotions in conversation with women so well - the typical man on a date with the woman he (already) loves is usually fairly hopeless - but then they go and sit in rooms on their own writing some of the best song lyrics. I agree it is improving - with the possible exception that teenagers and their various heavy hangups will always take an age to get past that confusing time....

we "egos" mock others who come across as soft... but real men don't need to belittle to feel big.

Men grow up thinking they have to be manly and macho so when they fall in love the feelings are new and scary and exciting and song worthy... Men and woman also do tend to express thing differantly... for some men putting a new set of tires on his wife's car is the same as saying I love you... most woman just see that as new tires. Music has the ability to speak in a way that both men and woman can readily understand... and most male musicans are up to their neck in poon and the majority of men agree there's nothing more macho than that... so if singing about love gets a man poon then it works out as macho in the end.

Nowadays I think guys are starting to realize that true emotions, not just putting on a tough front, is more attractive and likeable. At least in my crowd it is.
