I dunno. Its crazy how expensive it is. I only go on 'Cheap Tuesdays' cos it's 10buks. And i never buy munchies at the movies. Running past the supermarket on the way is way cheaper! And petrol stations have better ice-creams!

We're not too bright, that's why. Myself included! (This is a great question, by the way!)

I go to the movies a lot. I go with friends, with family, on my own. I have to--I'm a writer, so I try to expose myself to as much film and television as I can, on top of the ridiculous amount of books I read. Because I go so frequently, I usually get my snacks from the supermarket and smuggle them into the theatre. Last time I went to the cinema, I was short on time. It cost me $13 for a small popcorn and a medium coke. I will definitely pre-purchase my snackery next time.

Because the impulse to see the brand new film you've been waiting for is generally greater than your desire to stick it to the man and stay home.

i rarely eat in movies , but i do love my big screen films , nothing like being seated in the dark , with a screen bigger than you are in front of you , creating the illusion that you are part of the action .. tv is the equivalent of sex without the orgasm , still good , but better on the big screen-O .

OMG..This is SUCH a good question. I came from a tiny town and my boyfriend and I went to the movies at our one movie theater every Friday night no matter what was on (The people that ran it FORBID R-rated movies so we were ok! Lol)..I remember when it went up to $2 and we thought it was crazy but it was affordable. Candy was ok too. NOW? Good God, sending your teen out to the movies is at least $20. I support our local art house theater because it's really cool and has a jazz cafe attached. I go to the mall for afternoon shows maybe 4x a year. I think it's sad that a lot of families can't afford to see things on the big screen. They wait for the DVD to come out because let's face it, that costs as much as one movie ticket!!

Twice yearly, average. That's about my box office tolerance. If it's worth seeing, it'll still be worth seeing on DVD.

I never pay full prize for anything when at the movies. I always get some sort of discount with coupons, or deals between the movie theatre and credit cards, etc. I try to sneak my own coke. The only thing I but there is popcorn because it's the best damn popcorn ever. I have never eaten better popcorn anywere. BTW here the ticket itself is quite expensive, don't really how much right now because I haven't been to a movie in a while, there are really not many movies worth it, but about 6-7 u$s ( I live in Argentina).

I for one do not accept or pay ridiculous prices at movie theatres. In the last dozen years I have been to the movies MAYBE 3 times. The last few times I went it was either because I REALLY wanted to see the movie (A Perfect Storm. Yeah, it has been a while) or I was doing a big brothers / big sisters volunteer gig and taking a kid. When I do go, I don't usually buy refreshments because A. They're expensive. B. I am just not that into popcorn. and C. I can last a couple hours without eating. Besides, I'd rather grab something afterward and discuss the movie.

I think we are beginning to stop blindly accepting the situation. I think the market is at its limit and sooner than later, the act of going to movies and putting up with high prices and a dozen commericals will make this less of an adventure and more of a challenge. This is the stuff that gets people to stay home. Furthermore, with direct downloads, you will see movie studios stop using theaters as the distribution point and go right to the homes avoiding expensive film costs and not having to deal with any distribution partners. I give the lifespan of the movie theater another 20 years at the max.

The only reason I accept it is because I know the only thing movie theaters make any sort of profit from is the concession stand. I don't even think they make a dime off the tickets themselves. If you don't want to pay triple the price for snacks, just don't eat during the movie. Most of the time I don't, but sometimes those ads they play before the trailers with the salty buttery popcorn and the 60oz coca cola dancing around the aisles get me. I can't help it. Delicious.

Why can't we go 2 hours without eating? Are we really that much different from farm animals? How many would even go to the movies, if they couldn't pig out?
