"I'm so TIRED of this"...standard thing said while I was growing up and I hated it and I say it all the time now. Cause I am, Blanche I am. In school we had a rule that if the teacher said to do something, do it and talk about it later. This was usually for safety reasons with ED kids. You can talk to someone till your blue in the face but their hair will still burn off if you don't dump water on them. something like that.

I'm pretty sure I haven't done any of the bad things to my kids that happened to me, besides spanking my first son a few times. One thing I will never say to my kids is "You're going to wind up just like (redacted)!"

The stupidest thing I ever said was calling my very irksome then-14 year old son "a stupid son of a b*tch" .... He just smiled and agreed with me.

"Don't ask just do." What a horrible thing to say to a child and I got that alot from my mom. Because I'm glad I realised it early enough, but other kids don't and we're just training kids for a big brother society. "We'll settle this later." It's the worst way to get out of dealing with a problem. My mom (again) said and still says this all the time. She manages to run from confrontation everytime and instead of "time healing all wounds" it just festers.

I hope to avoid maybe it's not a cliche but the whole Santa Claus thing ...I don't like being lied to or lying and would hate to do that to my kid *SPOILER ALERT(Santa not being real was a huge downer for me and alot of people I know). I so plan on using because I said so...one of those I hated it and now it's my right to use it kinda deals. My only vow is to never give my kid a shoulder shrug instead of a response (my dads preferred way to this day of answering a question, even one as simple as, Dad want some coffee?)

i notice that new age parents use these emotional steroids on the kids non stop , " you are the BEST , you are superman , you are so amazing .." just on and on , to the point where they are raising these egocetric lunatics who think the world is a mere vehicle for their glorification ..what happened to raising humble good citizens and neighbors ?
