christina aguilera "The Voice Within" Young girl, don't cry I'll be right here when your world starts to fall Young girl, it's all right Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems No one ever wants or bothers to explain Of the heartache life can bring and what it means When there's no one else Look inside yourself Like your oldest friend Just trust the voice within Then you'll find the strength That will guide your way If you will learn to begin To trust the voice within Young girl, don't hide You'll never change if you just run away Young girl, just hold tight And soon you're gonna see your brighter day Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed It's so hard to stand your ground when you're so afraid No one reaches out a hand for you to hold When you're lost outside look inside to your soul When there's no one else Look inside yourself Like your oldest friend Just trust the voice within Then you'll find the strength That will guide your way If you will learn to begin To trust the voice within Yeah... Life is a journey It can take you anywhere you choose to go As long as you're learning You'll find all you'll ever need to know You'll make it You'll make it Just don't go forsaking yourself No one can stop you You know that I'm talking to you When there's no one else Look inside yourself Like your oldest friend Just trust the voice within Then you'll find the strength That will guide your way If you will learn to begin To trust the voice within Young girl don't cry I'll be right here when your world starts to fall

Where there is love there is hope.. (This Part of Town, Widespread Panic/M. Houser) I'm not trying to die for things I can't admit (Early Morning Silence, Glue) "Home - is where I want to be But I guess I'm already there I come home - -she lifted up her wings Guess that this must be the place I can't tell one from another Did I find you, or you find me? There was a time Before we were born If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be Hi yo We drift in and out Hi yo sing into my mouth Out of all those kinds of people You got a face with a view I'm just an animal looking for a home Share the same space for a minute or two And you love me till my heart stops Love me till I'm dead" (Naive Melody-This Must Be the Place, Talking Heads) And my favorite... "Once in a while you get shown the light In the strangest of places if you look at it right." (Scarlet Begonias, Grateful Dead/R. Hunter) Sorry, just too many to pick only one set. They all have affected me or inspired for sure, the last one above just keeps happening....Lyrics are definitely my favorite part of any song! What a great question!

But for now we are young, Let us lay in the sun, And count every beautiful thing we can see. - "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" Neutral Milk Hotel And again I used arrogance as something to depend. And condemned all religion to pitiless end. And a politician's resonance rang through my mind. Patriotic in one sense the other just blind. Oh so many died, torn apart at the hands of a child. - "Typical" Laura Marling

The lyrics might sound sound depressing at first, but to me they speak about the exquisite beauty of life. Jackson Browne is truly a poet. "Just do the steps that you've been shown By everyone you've ever known Until the dance becomes your very own No matter how close to yours Another's steps have grown In the end there is one dance you'll do alone" "Into a dancer you have grown From a seed somebody else has thrown Go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own And somewhere between the time you arrive And the time you go May lie a reason you were alive But you'll never know" -"For a Dancer" -Jackson Browne

and I will throw.... caution bravely to the wind I'll cut myself free from burning stretched within I'll have no self Greater than the thing I am and we drift, we drift like sound and beauty breaks our ears again we drift, we drift like sound waves we drift like sound waves From "Loan Shark" by Voxtrot. They're just amazing, almost every one of their songs just kicks me in the chest.

"No one laughs at God on the day they realize the last sight they'll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes, no one laughs at God when they're saying their goodbyes. But God can be funny at a cocktail party while listening to a good God-themed joke; or when the crazies say he hates us and they get so red in the head you think they're 'bout to choke. God can be funny when told he give you money if you just pray the right way or when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus. God can be so hilarious." -from the song Laughing With by Regina Spektor Since I first heard this song I can't get it out of my mind. The whole album it's from is terrific, but this one keeps pulling me back.
