Rural Life As A Solution To Hard, Hectic Times ?

Would you consider leaving the city? What benefits, if any, do you think are in rural areas?

I would leave the city. I am not very materialistic and prefer having as little as possible. If my job was to look after myself and my family, that would be the best. You are out on your own looking after yourself and your own. Dependent on no one but yourself. Your work constantly pays off directly to you. Hardly any middle man with money and a supermarket.

I lived in a very rural area until I was 18. What makes you think that life isn't hard? It may be less hectic but it's still fillled with the same stuff you have to do in the city. Just takes longer to drive there, there's more lawn to cut, less restaurants (more home cookin) and hunters, 4wheelers and chickens to deal with. Well, in some places :)

The difficulty for me is the dearth of the sorts of jobs I do out in the booonies. Otherwise, I'd go in a heartbeat.

I consider leaving the city almost every day, especially a city like the LA area. For one there's no traffic, and if you're willing and not lazy you can walk places, which I like. There most likely would be a lower crime rate(with the exception of maniacs going into elementary Amish schools and killing innocent young lives) and safe facilities. Money would probably be less of a necessity, too, and I think that would be a solution to hard and hectic times!

one good thing is that you would greatly reduce your ecological foot print but on the other hand you would be very out of touch
