Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Woody Allen opens up the classic movie Anne Hall with the Groucho Marx joke "I would never want to join the type of club that would have me as a member". He then talks about how this joke symbolizing how he feels about dating. Does anybody else feel like this? Does anybody else love Groucho? Is this just a comment on self esteem, or is there a more basic meaning to not trusting someone who would want to date you?
