I actually do feel this way at the moment. I had the most amazing person, I didn't give him enough because of selfish reasons, and now he is gone only to taunt me in that friend category. I've never wanted him more than I do now. Uggggh.

Its simple lack of gratitude... thats it! .... you should practice being thankful for what you do have... Try it for a day... wake up and search for all the things you have that others don't... (which is everything.. because some others have nothing at all)... just tell yourself... wow.. I'm really glad I have this toothbrush, how else would I clean my teeth so good..... my car looks like sh*t, but I sure ain't walking.... my a/c was, sure enough cold this morning when I woke up.... this fridge does one hell of a job keeping my milk cold... and so on... you'll realize how spoiled you Really are... a little empathy and self sacrifice for others might give you some perspective...

What planet you on? Maybe your small world is brimming with excess but for the majority of human beings that is not the case. The wealthy nations are fat with it all and if you are in any doubt check out their obesity rates. The poorer ones have only skin over their bones if they're lucky.Meanwhile we suck in all the resources and want more more more.Maybe time to learn some lessons in self denial.Thinking about what you are eating is a good place to start. What was the journey that piece of food took to get to your plate? What journey did you take to come to the point of meeting with what you are about to eat? Are you truly thankful? Any chance what you're about to eat might be truly thankful too if it could be ?What do you think? Might find stuff like this useful. Can train the mind not to be so greedy. It is a problem. Well put.Thanks.

That's weird. Yet another question where I can answer honestly that I do not feel that way at all.

i think in the end it has something to do with the need to feel special. see, by wanting something we cannot have, we set ourselves to think that the person or the party concerned or even the universe will pull some pretty heavy strings for us to get it, and go that extra, extra length. just for us. so i guess wanting what we cannot have a is pretty primal urge though also a normal/very human means for some ego boost.
