Why do we only want what we can’t have?

Be it a love interest, a job opportunity or simply even the last piece of pizza I threw away last night, I for one seem doomed to long for the things I simply can’t have. I’ve had my chance, I turned it down and now that it is no longer a possibility I yearn for it like never before. In a world that is brimming with excess have we all unavoidably become petulant children, only wanting what we can’t have?

What do you think?
