According to one of my past teachers, people living yearsandyears ago were taught to eat the sweet, fatty foods because those would leave them full and they weren't sure when their next meal would be. And through time I guess we just never lost that trait.

Right after I watched "Super Size Me" I stopped eating McD's. But it lures you back, especially when you like Big Macs! I try to avoid the super-fatty stuff like shakes and fries. I read labels now because I'm diabetic, and there are a few things on their menu that I can eat without feeling too guilty, but only a few. For me, salt and carbohydrates are the enemies. Fiber = good.

Actually if you don't eat the stuff for a while and then have a burger or something it doesn't taste so great. Except for fries, which are clearly emitting mind control waves of some kind

Another interesting bit of trivia, monosodium glutamate is an engineered chemical compound that, when immersed in water or saliva, rapidly dissociates into sodium cations and glutamate anions. That's a big long way of saying they make anything "savory" taste even more "savory." And McDonalds uses the Hell out of it. MSG is a "flavor enhancer" which means it doesn't add any value to the food, it's just there to keep you coming back for more. Why do we let people put man-made chemicals in our food that don't do anything besides keep us eating it? No idea.

they make it taste good so you'll eat it. and then you will crave the yumminess and they have you hooked. they don't care what they put in it(much less put in you) as long as you like it.

McDonald's has spend thousands, maybe millions on learning how to chemically engineer their food so that the taste is consistent--and for some consistently irresistible. Read Fast Food Nation. After I read that book I gave up eating red meat and vowed never again to set foot inside Mc Donald's (or any other fast food chain). The meat is processed under unsanitary conditions and their business practices are appalling.
