America's greatest enemy is...well...America. We are our own sovereign country only to the degree we follow our set laws and keep the constitution in tact. We could become comunist just about any time - it's only a matter of votes, values, and beliefs. It seems in the media everyday the question of what it means to be American or live free simmers below the days news. What we see as fair or unfair, just or unjust often is based on what we believe America is or should be.

Anyone who claims to love America yet believes that only their religious group should be around, that only their race should be around, and wants to burn books.

Religious fundamentalists in all forms. The Islam ones are trying to bomb us and the Christian ones are trying to take away human rights. There are other groups, but it mostly goes into suicide pacts and sacraficing their own people, not at a national level.

Applegrass is America's greatest enemy. I have it on good authority that she has a volcano lair. And henchmen. And is currently in possession of the Ruby Slippers and intends to use them. Sorry, Applegrass. It's the first thing that popped into my head and everyone else said what I wanted to say.

Funny , when people ask things like this it feels like they are talking about ancient Rome or Greece or Egypt. I don't ever hearing anyone here ask "Who is Scotland's greatest enemy?" I agree with a lot of what has been said ,for all it's worth, but really the answer to such a question has got to be found right at the heart of the question...

The comedic stylings of Kathy Griffin. Kidding. Everyone who responded has it right. I think as a species, our greatest enemies are ourselves and greed, above all.

I think when one is constantly striving to find enemies out and about, there is little time left to consider that one might be their own worst enemy. Classic distraction ploy. We as a species just LOVE someone else we can throw down on, for any and all reasons. Because then we don't have the time or energy to consider and deal with our own faults and failings.
