I like all these suggestions and will try all of them! However, my uncle used to do something odd when I was little, and it really is a fun thing to do with kids to make a nice memory...if I had the hiccups, he would hold up a trinket or a quarter (or sometimes even a dollar) in front of my face and say "Listen, if you can hiccup for me exactly when I count to three, I will give this to you, but it has to be perfect. One, two, three, right NOW!" He'd let me try several times to time it right, but it was difficult of course. I spent so much energy trying to win that money, that I very often lost my hiccups.

if I'm in an inconspicuous place, I bend forward so my head is almost upside down and swallow a few times. usually works pretty well.... it's like the "drinking from the far side of the glass" thing, but simpler.

I close my eyes and picture a cow in my head, concentrating on its features. Someone told me to do it in junior high and it works like a charm. Haha.
