Should the people of Los Angeles donate to MJ's Funeral?

That guy was completely overrated. Sure he could dance and sing, but the only reason he was as famous as he was was because of his famous family. I couldn't care less when i heard that he died, and I dont think that by ANY means ANYONE should EVER have to donate to ANYONE'S funeral. Especially MJ's.

no, i dont think that the people of LA should donate to MJ's funeral. he may be the king of pop but in the end he is what we all are, a person and the Jackson family has more than enough money to pay for a funeral. you wouldnt ask people to donate to the funeral of a man that wasnt famous would you?

i had read somewhere (like CNN or something...) that the service was coming out of our (California Residents) taxes. But either way, i think that asking the public to pay for his funeral is rather silly.

Of course they should. MJ should also be deified by the state and given a statue in the Pantheon. And his new name shall be "Michael Augustus Joseph Tiberius Jackson Caesar". Or, you know, maybe not.

No, that's booty. Though Michael Jackson was a talented individual... everyone in Los Angeles has their own bills to pay. I'm not sure Michael Jackson would be happy that with this arrangement. Doesn't it seem like a bit of a burden?

I know a lot of people are angry with the idea that the Mayor of Los Angeles has set up a donation page to support the king of pop's public funeral service (the moment they rolled in a coffin it changed from Memorial to Black Baptist Funeral. Of this I know). I don't blink an eye when people ask to donate to a memorial or funeral to cover the family's cost. But, I understand the magnitude of the monies being asked, and also the imposition it causes when the city of Los Angeles, and the State of California is broke like a mug. There is also the argument of "Why give money to a guy who has a gold coffin, when music school teachers and music programs are being dramatically cut. I hate moaning with no action. So what is the solution? Well...Michael Jackson was known for his charitable work in many causes including music and the arts. So instead of giving money to his funeral and not helping out music programs and schools? I think Michael would probably be just as happy if you gave his donation money to the causes that he has help fund for the exact same thing http://www.allmichaeljackson.com/charities.html" target="_blank">http://www.allmichaeljackson.com/charities.html There are some great charities on this including Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles Child Help USA, Cities and Schools Scholarship Fund and many more. It also just happens to have on this list a lot of other great charities including the one I personally believe in: Angel Food. Then if you are feeling sassy? You can throw five bucks to the funeral just as a thank you for the charity work of Michael Jackson. Or not. That is what I think about giving money to Michael Jackson's funeral to cover Los Angeles. What say you?
