For me personally, Michael Jackson could be a fictional character from a cartoon for all i know, but he means a lot to me because of what he has accomplished and achieved, and i look up to him, in saying that, its not just him that i look upto, its everyone around me that seems to have something to offer. Learn from the good, leave the bad. Sure he was questioned about pedophilia, but he was proven not guilty. So why assume the worst? His whole life, jackson had nothing on him, outa nowhere, ONE couple accuse him, and then thats it, michael Jackson's reputation is gone? It would be really sad if there wasn't a hype over his death after all he has accomplished and all he has tried to accomplish... However i do think the hype over babies, break-ups and farts is really stupid!

For the same reason that there's hype over celebrity babies and break-ups and farts. I'm not sure what that reason is, but many people seem to want to feel connected to other people for the sole reason that they are on tv a lot. If I actually knew a celebrity who died, I would certainly care. Otherwise my reaction is no different than it is any other time I hear about the death of someone I don't know.

That Jacko was ready to start again after all the bad press he had to come through says a lot about him.A fraction of the slander he took would have destroyed lesser mortals. They tried to put out his light and were happy for Michael to become a figure of ridicule but the fact that he got back up on his feet and fought through all the shame he must have felt is testament to him and shows the power of his own self belief. The press and TV continued with programmes designed to cut him down- his wierd lifestyle, his spending habits, his face. Always reducing him to a laughing stock. This was all he got in the end regardless of the efforts he himself put in to recover from it all- and they must have been gargantuan. Then he dies and it's like Diana all over again. They crucified her in the days before her death and they did the same to MJ but everybody buys into all this "love" all this tragedy and sadness and suddenly the whole world is grieving. All those newspaper men and women who slated him and the TV reporters who smirked are weeping and mourning at the death of their little king. Michael Jackson isn't there to see it.Who are they doing it for?Maybe they think it makes them look good.It really doesn't. Someone should tell them. Do you need to have a*s written on your forehead to get a job in the media today. Of course it would be airbrushed out for public consumption. I wonder if he hadn't died what they would have said about his concerts? King fails to take back crown? Michael Jackson is dead? You bet.The hype is more about them and us really than the person who just died .He really isn't in all of this. If he were it would have style- and we would be dancing.

Why was there so much hype over sh*t that he was allegedly guilty of doing? You can't pick and choose what you want to hear about from certain people. Sorry.

Why so much coverage over his death? Simple: Does "best selling studio album of ALL TIME" ring any bells? That was Thriller, btw, for those of who living under about 1000lbs of rocks, lol. Only two acts have sold more total records: The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Yeah, I'm really curious why so many people care that he died... If that doesn't strike you as commendable, check out how many awards the man received: American Music Awards - 22 Billboard Awards - 40 BRIT Awards - 7 Golden Globe Awards - 1 Grammy Awards - 19 Guinness World Records - 13 MTV Awards -13 NAACP Image Awards - 14 RIAA Awards - 56 World Music Awards - 12 For a grand total of 197 major awards.... Again, I'm utterly shocked that his death is receiving so much press coverage..... Gimme a break, people.

Quite honestly I wonder when we lose more "greats" like Michael Vick, Marilyn Manson. People who have influenced this world one way or another, sure they my not top MJ. BUT they did something to make headlines. We saw it with Billy Mays. Some might say he was just a pitchman. Do you know how pitchmen started, i am not talking about the show boys and girls. He started on the boardwalk to his own tv show. The man drove a Bentley. Besides being in the news for his molestation charges, MJ wasnt doing anything besides hanging babies over rails, and his wild shenanigans.

THEY KILLED KENNY! THOSE b******s! But seriously, I guess we have to let pop culture greive one of it's founding fathers. The King- I wonder, who was the king of country? or the king of rock- that was supposed to be Elvis. Or the kings of other musical styles? Philosophically, is a piece of paper useless because it has a stain on it?

You should ask the question without the untyped, "I mean, really..." at the end. I think it would be worth your time to ask the question seriously, and answer it for yourself. So, as long as someone questions you about something, accuses you of something, that must mean you are guilty. I'm sure a lot of black men can identify with that. Without exception, everything I have heard from the people who actually knew this man, and knew him for years, including his children, is such a 180 degree opposite to the pedophilia accusations that they hold no weight with me. In addition, there is nothing in his background or that of his siblings to substantiate it, given that child molestation is a learned behaviour.

Come to think of it, even if he had been found guilty of pedophilia, I think there'd still be all this hype about his death.

Because he was one of the most popular people in the WORLD and had a monumental influence in it (and he was questioned much but not proven guilty for pedophilia).
