What do you think happens after you die?

This question may have already been asked but I would like to know what other people think. Whether it's religious beliefs or just what you THINK happens I'd like to know. And if you're going to say either we go to Heaven or Hell I want you to go more in depth with it. I personally dont believe in Heaven or Hell but I'm not going to bash anyone else's beliefs. I believe that after you die you will move into the next realm. Like Rainn Wilson explains to Oprah: When we are in the womb we grow arms and legs, eyes and ears to survive in this world. But as we live life on this earth as humans we grow our spiritual eyes and ears, arms and legs to prepare us for the next world and we'll continue to develop for the next world after the next....This of course is just my opinion. I would love to hear yours. Thank you! :)

I think we move into the next dimension, next life. Not as in karma like I'm coming back as an animal or another human. But I think there's another dimension out there we transfer to. Some know of its existence more than others. I'll add to that: that whatever state of mind on earth we were in determines our state in the next dimension too. IF we were mean people then I think we'll end up in a realm of unhappiness. A sort of self induced "hell" so to speak. And if we were a pleasant person here well it'd be another place to grow. I'm also entertaining the thought that just maybe we come back too. Or maybe we're sent back to learn. My jury is still out on that one. Stay tuned.

Well, belief is an illusion. Quantum physics has proven that energy cannot be created noe destroyed, it just is. Identity is gone, but the energy that was you still exists.

How would I know? What gets me is that there are people who really think they KNOW what happens after death. I think the mystery of death is part of what makes life so incredible. Live it up!

I suppose two does trump one. My gut, heart, and brain are at odds with this question. I really do believe in the "endless, dreamless sleep" but I'm also open-minded enough to realize my opinion is just as good as anyone else's. Point being, nobody knows.

I think some people immediately return to the god that created them - call it "Heaven" -- a place where there is just so much love that there is nothing else that can be there. Do we continue to sing, paint, talk...? Not sure, I just know that when you're there, it's a completely immersive experience. But I think most of us go on to a place where we can continue to "grow up" -- learn to love so that we will be able to fully experience "Heaven" when the time comes. Is that place back to earth through reincarnation? Or is it an extra-terrestrial location? Not sure. Yes, even "evil" people get to do this - it might take them a little longer to learn, but I do not believe God would ever permanently "give up" on someone. I believe even Satan will eventually be received by God at the end of the age.

If there is a God, he wired me to be unable to believe in him. I've tried, it just doesn't work. So if he throws me in hell because of not believing when unable to, I think hell is where I'd choose to go. I wouldn't want anything to do with that kind of God. When you say "believe in God", do you mean just the Christian God? Do all the jews and muslims get sent to hell for betting on the wrong horse, so to speak, if God is the Christian version?

Jesus said: "In my Fathers house are many mansions if it were not so I would not have told you." However, Baha'u'llah says: " the mysteries of death have not been divulged, and still remain unread, If they were revealed, they would evoke with gladness as to wish for death and beseech, with unceasing longing the one true-God, exalted be His Glory to hasten their end." So the words of Jesus and Baha'u'llah are in harmony with one another. We must remain steadfast of the fact that through death lies the mysteries of everlasting life.

I believe that when we die those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ will go to heaven and those who haven't will go to hell! and at the end of time God will send those who didn't believe in him to the lake of fire and those who do believe will be sent to the new earth!!!!!!!!!!! That's what I and most other Christians believe!

Of course I don't know, but I hope we all go to a place of peace and understanding, and if that is true, I think how we live our lives out will help us get to that place after we die.

Physical birth is a traumatic event requiring much energy expenditure and where things can and do go wrong. If the physical baby is not strong enough, it may be stillborn. I would propose that birth into the next reality is a similar event, requiring much expenditure of spiritual energy. If by our physical death we are not sufficiently connected to a Higher Source of Spiritual energy, the spiritual baby may also be stillborn.

I see it as everybody is traveling from life to life. Consciousness traveling, experiencing though the body/mind. But one needs to realize that he is not the bodymind. Else the cycle continues. Not that it wont continue once you become aware but at least you can enjoy the ride and at some point everything stops! What happens once you die? Depends on your level of consciousness, I guess. Being aware in the vertical dimension instead of the horisontal. I hope you enjoy these thoughts :)

I wish I could believe in any sort of afterlife, be it reincarnation, heaven/hell, moving on to the next level etc, but I really can't. It makes the prospect of death pretty terrifying and depressing to think that there is just nothing, but I simply can't make myself believe something just to feel better. I've tried, trust me. Before my life there was nothing, and it seems the most likely that after I die there will be just as much nothing.

I think about that a lot mostly because I feel like I've accepted the fact that I'll die and it won't matter how it happens or how everything in life will turn up afterward. I think dying depends on our conditions from our life. I really believe that we'll be reborn, reincarnated, into the same world we once died in or another world we may never have known to exist. I see more that being happy throughout most of your life will let you continue to be that kind of person when you're reborn again in some shape or form in some other place. It's a mental and emotional transport system in a sense that takes you wherever it feels like going. I mean I'm just an agnostic Catholic who believes that everyone gets a second, a third, a fourth and a thirty-fifth chance of being able to die and be reborn again. When you die, you just get reborn immediately; there is no waiting in line to arrive into a new body. That's what I think happens after you die and in most ways, I kind of hope that's what happens after you die.
