i do a lot of deep thinking when it rains, because it seems as though the world is quiet, and its a peaceful time. It lets your mind feel alone (not in a creepy way) but just where you have time to think... and its just you and then rain.

Oftentimes reading (non-fiction) triggers things, and off I go. Sometime later I try to find the place where I left off (in the book). It's all good.

Usually late at night. At a local pub I frequent. Not while drinking...just while people watching and listening to all the ambient noise. Noise helps me think.

I'm always thinking, so I don't believe there's a particular time. When a "big" thought just hits me it just arrives, no matter the time. There's often music involved. And/or driving.

Pillow-talk with my philosopher-of-religion boyfriend (I am an astrophysicist). The different backgrounds sure lead to some pretty interesting discussions...almost all of which would make great discussions on this site. When not that, then when I'm staring at C-code at work and my mind begins to wander. The placement of non-intuitive text strings gets my mind going...what can I say?

really, whenever. Whenever a question comes up, I think about the answer and it can built until my brain is running like mad. Or sometimes I just think about everything or have a big idea

Toilet, waiting for a drive, walking. I've learned that before bed thinking is not entirely trustworthy.

at night, while trying to fall asleep. the setting is comforting in that it is dark enough to fall asleep but light still comes in through the blind making pretty cool shadows on the walls
