I firmly believe all you need is love, whether it is for your job, life, lover, family or yourself, it will get you through anything. I believe in it so much, I have it tattooed over both feet.

Maybe all you need to have the will to survive. But to actually stay alive you need food, clothes (depending on the weather), shelter, air, and water. But love gives you a motivation for all of this struggle to survive.

God is love. When we surrender our egos and commit to loving everyone and everything, even when it's difficult, we're adhering to the teachings of nearly every major world religion. The Bible says this: 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." -- Matthew 22:37-40 Furthermore, I'm reminded of Mother Teresa's words: "I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love." When we reach the point where we're able to love others as much as we love ourselves, nothing seems as painful. It's funny because most of the things that hurt us are somehow rooted in pride, vanity or greed -- and those are eliminated when we put this into practice. The more people surrender to radical love, the more our needs are taken care of without even realizing it. Often times in friendship, we play this twisted game of score keeping where we only do nice things for each other because of what we get in return -- even if it only comes in the form of ego reinforcement. But when we stop, and just love, we don't get bitter when things don't go as planned. We're just able to embrace every blessing as it comes along and live our lives in service to God and others. Since everything we experience here only serves to refine the soul, which is the only thing that actually matters, our true need is to work on getting as close to God as we possibly can. So, in that spirit, by increasing our hearts to the point where God's love overflows from us -- we're making the most of our short time here. In that sense, yes, all you need is love. Everything else is an illusion.

if i may expand a little on tutherbrother's comment that "Love is the key which unlocks the doors to all the other things we need." If i truly love my family, i will make the sacrifices necessary to provide for them. I will take steps to build our relationships and help them in their endeavors. And so on. And of course, flowing out of that love, i wont ignore them, hurt them, etc. That's just one example. extrapolate as needed

Love can complicate, and make life beautiful. Love is what makes us human beings. Love is a great and wonderful gift that we hold in our mind. Without love, life would not be worth living, And I can't say that about anything else.
