Driving my daughter and her young teen friends to the beach each summer for a day of fun and goofiness. I only got invited along because they were too young to drive, but they were always good times for me.

My friends and I got bored so we decided to go to Vegas for the weekend. It was only a 4 hour drive from where we lived in Southern California. We got into the car and took off. We pulled off the freeway to eat at In-N-Out and a Daewoo cut us off and we almost got into an accident. After that, we all started laughing and my friend Sean started yelling at the Daewoo. Not the driver, but the car. He was yelling about how crappy Daewoo products are and how he has a Daewoo dvd player that never worked right. The Daewoo pulled into the same In-N-Out that we were going to. As we walked through the parking lot, he continued to yell about how crappy anything Daewoo is. Maybe this is one of those things where you had to be there to think that it's funny, but that was greatest car ride of my life. The best 4 hours I've ever spent in a car, by far. The fact that he was more pissed off at the Daewoo company for making bad products, than the fact that we were almost in a serious car accident still makes me laugh to this day, and that was 7 years ago.

Whichever trip was the most recent. I love being in the car... it's like a moving home, a personal sanctuary to go. Put on some nice tunes, the vibration of places changing beneath you as you roll along, the world whizzing by, the breeze on your face (in the summer), the frost on the windshield made by your breath (in the winter), throw a few people you love in there with you and it makes it all the better.... it's a beautiful experience and nothing quite matches driving/riding in a car, imo. Today it was going on a comical wild goose chase from a cinema, to a dance studio, to a lake, to a Middle-Eastern restaurant/grocery, to a co-op... nothing worked out as anticipated, which is nothing particularly out of the ordinary. Running all over creation, but never feeling lost or away from home (even if I'm indeed lost and away from home) is indeed a wonderful thing.

Driving to my school for the first time like two years ago. My family and I were laughing and having such an amazing time all the way down there, which is something that hadn't happened since I was four. Another memory is going to the city with friends. We go down there a lot, but every time I have a new story to tell and lots of new memories.

driving from OKC to Alberqurque NM to start a big job building houses on the Kirkland Airforce Base... Its a 9 hour drive, we were all so excited we couldn't shut up about what we would do when we got there... That city is magical, I lived there for only a year 3 years ago, but still feel like its my home.. I think about the car ride alot, and wish for another opportunity like that to come along again, cus when it does... I'm gone!

thanks for the memory jolt! it was like 15 years ago...driving from NJ to Charleston South Carolina with my best friend Kat to see another very good friend who was attending college there. We drove all night and literally sang and talked ourselves out...we talked about everything you could possibly talk about from spirituality to aliens..until we both realized. well..there just isn't anything left to talk about. we talked ourselves speachless.

Driving down a huge hill toward a lake at sunset with "The Scientist" playing. It lasted for 2 minutes, but that moment has stuck with me.
