I'm not going to answer this because I dont really know myself but I just thought of something to go along with this. Ya know how crazy heavy metal can get and any music at that...how is it going to be in 30 years? We'll never know.

Having 2 kids myself, it is a choice, we have no cable and we select classics, Bugs Bunny, Smurfs, Disney classics.... so when we sit as a family we watch and they are not bombarded with advertisments... and then we talk about what we saw. It has been almost 2 years without cable and as a family you save money and save time that you are not wasting watching to numb the brain.... READ , PLAY, ENJOY EACH OTHER!!!

Yes, this is one of life's big questions. When I have the thought - ".... but they aren't good! I just don't get it, though. What happened?" Life happened. The new generation did get their chance of creation...and this IS what they created. By the way, this is Your generation...aren't you 30? The 20 year olds are coming soon and will be creating their life/world. I like their commercials - some - so far. The "Good Ole Days" is a very dangerous place/way to live life. I am 50 and the people that live like this usually are not in reality and glorify the past. Ever talk to a person whose alcholic mother died and now year after her death she refers to her as a saint.?

I completely understand you. Animators are getting lazy. Storylines are pathetic. Overall is a waste of energy and not worth watching.

cartoons for kids now are just about how advanced they are (computer animation) , they dont really care about the plot anymore. dont get me wrong i love computer animation, but its always really awesome to see something 2D every once in a while its almost becoming a dead career

were cartoons ever any good? go back and look at some old bugs bunny's or other "classic" cartoons. go back and look at some thunder cats or g.i. joe, ninja turtles, my little pony, or captain planet episodes. there are issues with all of them. are today's cartoons problematic? yes. without a doubt, yes. but i don't think that's a huge shift from the cartoons that preceded them.

It seems to me that the cartoons for kids today are all about learning and leave out the creativity and just plain fun of being a kid. And, I agree, the stuff on today is so lame! If I ever have kids they are gonna get to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Smurfs and all that fun stuff.

I find that the cartoons seem more geared toward adults, and contain more adult humor than the 'toons of yesteryear. I've yet to figure out Spongebob, although I admit that my grandson finds it amusing... But what about Bugs Bunny, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Donald Duck/ Hughie, Louie and Dewey, etc.? :-(
